Team Philosophy
We swim for pleasure. Let's face it when it's all said and done, we feel awesome!
We swim to prepare for competition. Harvard! Wheaton!
We swim to add it to a bike and a run. Appleman, Lake Placid, Timberman, Danskin, Mooseman...
We swim to make friends. Friends that like to swim!
We swim to have a life outside work and family. An additional social life!
We swim for leisure. Rockport! It's really about the meal and the cliff diving!
We swim for tranquility: Walden Pond, White's Pond.
We swim to avoid becoming huge fat beasts. That’s right, we’re all svelt!
We swim to stave off atheriosclerosis. No obtruction, smooth as silk bloodflow!
We swim to improve all four strokes. Maybe someday all of our names will be on the 200 fly plaque!
We swim to stay healthy, to stay in shape so we can enjoy life to the fullest!

Coaches Bio
Team Bio
Kim, dubbed " Master Chief" in the photo, on the right, has been coaching the team from the beginning, since 1998. In Kim's junior year at San Francisco State University she joined the swim team as a walk on. After not having swum competitvely for several years, she was not a stand out, however, she loved the intensity of college swimming and after leaving college swimming embarked on a 20 year endeavor as a master's swimmer and coach. Over the past five years she has placed in the top or near the top of her age group in various events. Kim's coaching style is to create interesting and challenging workouts and use numerous drills to improve the swimmers stroke technique. She also likes to assess what works naturally for the athlete and build around his or her individuals skills. Kim has also been a member of the AIM tri team coaching staff, offering clinics and coaching since 2004. In 2003 we joined forces with the Acton Boxborough group, Dave dubbed "The Beautiful One" (that would be the fellow with the beard) on the left and one of the A/B swimmers, came on board running a couple of workouts a week. Dave is persistant, having swum competitively, off and on, for over 45 years. Dave has layed claim to many excellent performances as a masters swimmer! A fun fact about Dave is he was a lifegaurd at the first triathlon in San Diego back in the mid-1970's . The ABC Gray Sharks started out as the Thoreau Masters back in 1998, swimming out of the Thoreau Club in Concord, MA. In 2001 we became the Thoreau Gray Sharks, finally changing our name to the ABC Gray Sharks in 2003 when we began sharing our pool, on occasion, with the folks from the Acton Boxborough masters team. We currently hold the majority of our practices at Acton-Boxborough High School in Acton, MA. We began our team with 7 swimmers in 1998 and have increased our numbers to approximately 50 swimmers in 2006. We began competing at the annual NEM Championships in 2000 with a total of 5 swimmers placing 43rd in a field of 56 New England teams The Gray Sharks brought 40 swimmers to Harvard in 2006 where we progressed to our current standing of 5th place in New England in a field of 40 teams.
