| After letting one storm hit
me...this beauty came into sight. Just outside the town of McLean, IL in
McLean County...around 5 PM CDT. |
 |
| LP, in Illinois...in October? Yeah,
ok. |
 |
| Wall cloud begins emerging from the
precip core...checking radar at this time, the storm already had a
-very- well defined hook echo. |
 |
| Wall cloud getting large, and more
defined...as well as the beautiful base of the main updraft region on
the supercell. |
 |
| Right about now, the sirens in
McLean begin sounding and I realise this thing means business, and give
Dave Bellmore a phone call, to see if he can give me any info on the
cell. |
 |
| First funnel cloud develops on the
left side of the wall cloud, as very intense cg action continues. |
 |
| Now we're just getting
ridiculous...two funnel's at once, both rotating pretty strongly. |
 |
| Beaver tail stretched way out ahead
of it...with the edge of the wall cloud shown in the left side. Storm
was almost straight north of me...I still havent moved since the first
image, as a good 20 minutes have passed. |
 |
| Crazy. Another funnel cloud. I
thought it was finally going to do it at this point. I was just about to
turn around, and head north after it when I looked into the rear view
mirror and saw this, and began filming again. |
 |
| Darkness becoming a problem, as well
as precip. It tried a third time here, unsuccessfully to my knowledge,
as I lost it a few minutes later. I eventually got another supercell
with an even more intense couplet, but didnt catch much of it since I
had to spend more time getting into position on it in the dark.
Eventually, lightning cut down, so I lost all visual, and headed home
very happy. |
