Wireless Sensor Research Lab

IIIT-Hyderabad, India
I. Ubiquitous
sensor network
This
is a network that enables users to receive necessary information
anytime, from anywhere by installing small wireless sensors that
detect surrounding environment such as temperature, humidity and
vibration in buildings, roads, mountains, rivers, etc. Usually
these devices are small and inexpensive, so that they can be
produced and deployed in large numbers, and so their resources in
terms of energy, memory, computational speed and bandwidth are
severely constrained.
Protocols
developed within the WSN Lab are typically tested through
simulation and/or implementation. To facilitate testing, we have
plans with AirBee Wireless to created a testbed consisting of a
heterogeneous assortment of wireless devices.
Research
Issues:
How
to organize multi-hop and clustering protocols for WSNs?
Challenges:
Extending
the maximum life-span of the multi-hop sensor networks which are
constrained with non-replishnable energy sources
Implementation/Simulation:
Provide
test bed for gathering results of power aware routing and data
fusion techniques in cross layer data aggregation
Current Research Interest
- Design of power-aware
routing algorithms
- Fault tolerant fusion
algorithms
