Using my memories to help myself ...
Is there something about my behaviour I would like to change eg.stopping smoking, eating less, not being afraid...?

Everyone has the resources within them to
change.

Imagine a
future where I have achieved my goal. How will I view myself, what can I do now, how will others see me ?

Remember a time in my life when I was particularly
relaxed, happy, determined or repulsed.

Talk to my family, friends, doctor, nurse, counsellor.... to help me remember such times, and imagine a successful
future.

Practice remembering these times until they are vivid, strong and can be recalled just by touching the fingers of my left
hand.

Imagine a situation where I am most
tempted eg.to smoke when I'm around all my smoking friends at the end of a hard day's work.....
When these feelings are at their peak, touch the appropriate fingers of my  left hand and regain control over myself.


Now try to control your behaviour in a real situation. Keep trying.
