As Kani O Ke Kai, Lance and Lynda have performed at public functions, private parties, ethnic celebrations and charitable events. Through hula and mele, they bring to their audiences the language, history, culture and spirit of Hawai’i. Lance and Lynda have been married for 33 years, live in Manassas, Virginia and travel often to Hawai’i for study, research and relaxation. |

The Dancer: Puakeaokalani Kawewehiokeana Puakea
holds a Masters degree in dance from Springfield College and has 20 years
experience as a performer and teacher of hula and Hawaiian culture. As a
member of Hälau Möhala ‘Ilima (HMI), located in Käne’ohe, Hawai’i,
she graduated in August 2007 as an ‘ölapa (accomplished dancer) in the
tradition of Kumu Hula Mäpuana deSilva. Puakea began her studies with
Aunty Mäpu in 1992 and has been a member of the Papa Hi’ikua of HMI
since 2003.
Additionally,
Puakea danced with Hale O Nä Pua Ke’oke’o and Hälau O ‘Aulani in
the Washington, DC Metro area and Nä Haumana O Hula, Santa Rosa, CA. |

Pono has played
guitar for over 30 years and found his niche in Hawaiian music in 1996.
He studied at George Kahumoku,
Jr’s slack key guitar seminar on Maui for
2 years and continues to refine his slack key skills through independent
study.
