Was first founded in Berkshire as a small pets club

Was incorporated in the early 80's
It was frowned upon when we started to exhibit ferrets along with the other pets and our welfare work extended to the many lost or dumped working ferrets that required new homes.
We started with micro chips for rabbits, after a short time we extended this to ferrets and getting ferret owners as well as other welfare and rescue organisations interested in micro chipping both at public events and on the Internet has been an uphill struggle.
At last we are now seeing the results of the work we have done in the past as more and more people and orginisations are get their ferrets chipped

We have some one living in the IOW requesting dontations to help with ferret welfare's / shelters and following is the reply from one of these rescues who's name is being used in this scam.
According to the charity commission here in the UK no one should send any money or cheques to anyone unless all cheques are made payable to the rescue itself. Scams like this are being run all the time to part people from their money.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Following an emergency meeting of the Trustees we have contacted the person responsible for posting the messages on a variety of ferret forums, and have taken the necessary steps to stop the problem.
You should find that the ferretology web-site is now inactive.
It is the policy of our Trustees not to participate in ferret forums. However, our reputation is important to us so once again, thank you for taking the time and trouble to highlight a problem.

Now with scams like this going on why is the National Ferret Welfare Society UK have Not been doing something to warn people about handing money over to the people running these scams,. The NFWS is supposed to benifit the UK's ferret owners yet there is nothing about scams being run by people to benafit them self and not ferrets on their web site. ...... What the betting they will now put something on.
