Circa 1869. when Norman Troupe, a restless British Army Officer landed in
Ranikhet,
the universal human longing in him for a home immediately recognized the
dreamland. And with an urgent spontaneity Troupe set out to develop the
Holmes Estate dream that had been haunting him all his life. A home for
himself and a place where his friends would frequently love to come.
Circa 2004. we at Holm Farm Heritage offer you that same dream. Original and unadulterated. Facing the magnificence of the sacred Himalayas and encompassing an enchanting sprawl of a 13-acre virgin orchard, the Holm Farm Heritage is an incredible combination of the traditional and the modern.
The
Holm farm was originally built by Norman Troupe. The name Holm comes from
William Holmes, an expert in tea gardening who was Troupes friend and
helped him develop a beautiful tea garden which still exists in the vicinity
of Holm Farm. The bungalow was later owned by Mohd. Amin, F.C. Banyon,
Catherine Abbot, wife Col. Abbot of Abbot Mount fame, and from 1947 on by
Madan Mohan Upadhyaya, a freedom- fighter and Lawyer of national fame. The
historic bungalow has had the privilege of hosting personalities like Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, Lord & Lady Mount Batton, Acharya Narendra Dev and
Ambassadors of many a country as guests.
Situated
in the Kumaon hills of UA, Ranikhet is 375 Kms from Delhi. The neare

Railway station is Kathgodam were you can reach by the Ranikhet Express, a
daily train from Old Delhi Railway station. Ranikhet is at a height of 1800
mts. with the temperatures ranging between 10ēC to 30ēC in summers and
between 0ēC to 10ēC in winters . A panoramic Himalayan view is available
from almost all points of the town. Nainital, Almora, Jageshwar, Mukteshwar,
a number of other hill stations and Corbett National Park are all with in a
two hour drive from Ranikhet.
Apart from the historic value Holm Farm Heritage offers it clients a very homely feeling which is made possible by the presence of its owner who stays at the resort itself.
