| Here is a list of the chapters that you are to read for each day remember that these are required reading and should be completed before the beginning of each class period: Day 1: Chapter 1 ( We will read this chapter in class.) Day 2: Chapters 2 & 3 Day 3: Chapters 4 & 5 Day 4: Chapters 6 & 7 Day 5: Chapters 8 & 9 Day 6: Chapters 10 & 11 Day 7: Work on whale QAR questions. Day 8: Chapters 12 & 13 Day 9: Chapters 14 & 15 The earliest you may take your AR test over this book is day 10. Remember you have one week in which to take this test. I will record this test as a test grade for this unit. |

| Day 5: Jouranl entry, write about how abuse is a big factor in this book. Tell about the characters who have been abused in some way and by whom. |
| Day 8: Journal entry, Write about what it means to be accepted: by friends, by family, by peers and by teammates. |
| Day 9: Graphic Organizer Complete the graphic organizer given to you by your teacher. |
| Day 10: Final activity Six-Trait Writing to be assigned by the teacher. |
| Grading: You will be graded on the following: Class participation 10%, Journal Writing 20%, Collage 10%, Poem 5%,QAR Whale Questions 20%, Graphic Organizer 5%, AR test 10%, Final Project 20%. |
