TRIP REPORT

View from the top of Florida

The lowest of all 50 highpoints is actually quite nice.  Situated right below the Alabama border, this trip takes you deep into the Florida Panhandle, and surprisingly, into the Central Time Zone.  That's right...the Florida highpoint is in the Central Time Zone!  There is a sign to the summit off of the main routeway in Florida.  Once you take the road, you drive about 3 miles until you drive up a small hill and see a nice little parking lot on the left.  Park your car, and walk into the park.  Into the woods a bit is the highpoint marker.  Beyond the marker are some short hiking trails.  For more information see my Britton Hill page on Summitpost.org.
