Introduction:
Hermann Hesse Society Nepal-2000 is a non-government, literary organization constituted under the Nepalese law and registered with the local authority of the government of Nepal. Government Registration no of the Society is 713/058/059.
German literature occupies a significant position in the world literature. Many German literaturates have contributed to raising German literature to the height of the world literature. Among such great personalities, Hermann Hesse is the one who remains as the great literary figure of the German-speaking world. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1946. He wrote throughout sixty-five years and enriched the world literature. Among his literary works, Siddhartha and Dewadatta are closely related to the sentiment of the Nepalese people. That is why Hermann Hesse Society Nepal-2000 took keen interest in translating Siddhartha into Nepali.

Objectives: The objectives of Hermann Hesse Society Nepal-2000 are as follows: v To publicize the literary works of Hermann Hesse among the Nepali readers, v To translate the German literary works into Nepali and vice versa, v To promote literary exchange between Nepal and Germany. |

Membership: Everyone who agrees with the objectives of Hermann Hesse Society Nepal-2000 may apply for membership of the Society. He/She is required to fill up the membership form made available by the Society. |

Appeal: Hermann Hesse Society Nepal-2000 is a literary organization dedicated to promoting the German Literature in Nepal and vice versa. In order to achieve the goal, the Society expects suggestion and cooperation from its well wishers. |

The Nepali translation of Siddhartha is finally done by Mr. Ramesh Adhikari and Mr. Charan Pradhan and the book was officially launched by His Excellency the
Ambassador of Germany to the Kingdom of Nepal, Mr. Ruediger Lemp.
In the Ceremony, famous poets and literatuers like Dr. DP Bhandari, Mr. Narendra Thapa, Mrs. Geeta Keshari, Mr. Tulasi Dibas and event organizer Mr. Prakash Sayami were present.
