WILL OF John Wilcocks

In the name of God, I, John Wilcocks of Craven County in Province of North Carolina, planter……..In promise, I give my beloved wife, Jane Wilcocks, use of plantation and land I bought of Lemuel Hatch the North corner of the Pond a straight line to the white oak on the river side a corner tree, till my son Benjamin Wilcocks comes of age then I give the foresaid land to my son Benjamin Willcocks to him and his heirs forever agreeable to the patent bearing Date the 29th Day of September 1753.

Item: I give my grandson John Wilcocks part of the land I bought of Stephen Swelley lying on the north side of the mill pond and part of the land I bought of Lemuel Hatch on the same side of the mill pond to him and to his heirs and assign forever.

Item: I give unto my sons Thomas and Stephen Wilcocks my lands on the south side of the mill pond being the remainder of the land I bought of Stephen Swelley and a tract of land I bought of Lemuel Hatch containing six hundred and forty acres to be equally divided between them and their heirs forever.

Jane, my beloved wife one bed and furniture ___ and two cows and ten pounds proclamation money.

Item: I give to my daughter Ann five pounds of proclamantion money.

Lastly, I hereby nominate and appoint my friend Lemuel Hatch and my sons Thomas and Stephen Wilcocks exec of this last will and testament. Ninth day of May, 1761
