IOLANI
ASTRONOMY CLUB
Hello

I'll try to keep this message a little less cheesy than the previous one...notice I said "try"...

Anyway...

Do the names "Rosalind," "Cressida," "Ariel" and "Ophelia" mean anything to you?

Ok, then, how about "Juliet," "Titania," "Oberon," and "Puck?"

Yes, yes, I know this is the Astronomy Club website and not the homepage of the Bard Lovers of Iolani, but, in addition to being Shakesperian characters, "Desdemona," "Portia," and the others are also moons of Uranus!

While we have only one lonely moon, Uranus and the other gas giants have many more natural satellites.

Uranus, for example, has 20 moons.  They range from large bodies the size of Titania and Oberon (both over 1500 km in diameter) to small moons like Rosalind (only 54 km across).

Imagine looking out into the night sky and seeing...20 moons!  That would be incredible...but kind of creepy...

                                More later,
