| The Austro-Hungarian Army was composed of a number of different races. Despite language and cultural differences it always fought well and its troops were just as brave as any other army.
They fought to preserve the Empire and were dedicated to the Emperor and the House of Habsburg. Officers and soldiers knew they were under the Emperor’s personal control and received his personal care and attention. The army was for the Empire, and was not Hungarian or Czech, Italian or German, Serbo-Croatian or Polish, Ruthene or Rumane, politics had no place in the military organization. |
