SOME RECOMMENDATIONS FOR RAISING BILINGUAL CHILDREN

ONLINE:

Isla, an online catalog of goods from Puerto Rico, has some books, videos, toys, and cd's for kids, including one of my favorites, "Canciones Infantiles", which must have been recorded over 40 years ago, and has a very sweet, traditional children's music sound.

Jose Luis Orozco,
the Pied Piper of bilingual music for kids in the U.S., has over a dozen cd's and books,
mostly of traditional Spanish-language children's songs (some feature his own originals).
He's always my first recommendation for families looking for children's music cd's.
Someday I'll get my act together and finally record my own cd!

try both Bilingual Journey

Bilingual & Multilingual Children's Association
A practical web-guide to raising multilingual children. Expert advice and real world wisdom,

IN NEW YORK CITY:

In Park Slope, El Pequeno Artista is New York's only bi-lingual arts center for little kids,
with classes in music, dance, puppetry and cooking for children from infancy through age 8.
They also have a delightful little retail section with instruments, books and toys from Latin America.

La Escuelita,
Manhattan's premier private bilingual Spanish-English pre-school,
is a delightful place for your child to learn and grow. Graciela used to teach there,
but sadly had to leave because she got too busy with Música Para Mí!

ISB (International School of Brooklyn),
is New York's only language-immersion school following the
International Baccalaureate Curriculum.
They offer both Spanish and French language tracks.
Some of my former students who have "graduated" go there,
and I've heard great things about it from their parents!
