WE are working on links to put here for local Animal Humane Societies and Rescue Shelters. If you live in Illinois/Missouri/Western Kentucky and have such a shelter in your area - we will be glad to list it here.
Here is a report from our Missouri Moderator:
This trip was a result of a plea I had posted on the Missouri Board for Transporters for this Rescue Transport run organized by Connie Foster. Bambi responded to the email I put on the board and the following resulted:

Hi everyone,
I had such a great day today I helped transport a 8 month old dog.
Her name is Candy Girl.from Poplar Bluff to Paducah, Ky. She is such
a sweetheart. The first thing that she did was lay her head on my
shoulder and give me a big kiss. I don't understand how people could
put her in a shelter knowing that the end result would be her death,
She is so loving and gentle and I am so glad that she has a loving
new home to go to.
The transport started in Springfield this morning and will end up in
North Carolina tomorrow. The rescue groups do such a great job. This
is the first time that I had done anything like this and I am so glad
that I did.
There was an extra bonus. I picked up Tina on the way. She is a great
lady and you really need to get to know her. We had a nice time
talking and getting to know each other.
Thank you Tina for making the trip easier for me by keeping me
company for the last leg of our journey.
So what did everyone else do today?
Bambi
Way to go Bambi ! Making a difference in this world = one small step at a time !
Cocoa was rescued from an abandoned house in Benton and now lives with Kenny in Belleville.

Benton (Cocoa's ornery but lovable big brother)went to live with Jane in Tilden and at last report - the town and Jane were still surviving its latest resident!
