  • Welcome, to the Singles Consortium

I started this Group as I felt there was a need for a conservative singles group for southern Illinois where there was no porn, no flaming, no spam, opportunities for real time meets, a place where friendship was pursued first and foremost, and a more concentrated effort to deal with the individual specific geographic areas within Illinois.

It is my personal belief that you can have a healthy viable singles group within cyber space and feel comfortable participating sharing the link with your friends, and find a place where you can trust that the content is acceptable even to your children. It is also my belief that the board can be moderated to protect the users but that the members are mature enough to undersand that that does not mean censorship and, along with that, can accept that this domain is a private place akin to a home where decorum is anticipated at all times.

Children are an important part of our real time meets. For that reason we are very very cautious and take great strides to ensure their safey in every way.

If at any time you have serious concerns about another member you are welcome to contact a moderator with specific details. The "He said, she said" context is not considered "specific" so please do not pass on rumors. We do take these reports very seriously.

We are glad that you have chosen to join us. Please do continue to read on as the information will facilitate your stay in our Group.

    Sincerely,

    Kathleen Johnson

Forum Host- Who is searching for an honest feisty Robin Hood and understands the armor maybe a little rusty and have a few dents but I know the heart will be full of dreams, romance, and a sense of adventure.

    Latest Site News

    April 7th, 2004

    Dear Members:

All is growing so fast in Illinois Singles and the Real Time Meets and networking is expanding. If you want an item in the Weekly Newsletter just forward it via email to my attention: News Letter Illinois Singles.

The groups are winding up for spring real time meets. The southern group is meeting on the 17th in Redbud at Sherrie's home for a barbeque. The menu has been discussed and hashed and re-discussed and the event looks to be another fun time.

The Northern and Central Groups are also in the midst of discusing their next real time meets. Both have had meets prior. Your input towards organizing such an event would be much appreciated. Post on the board and offer your suggestions.

    Community Service Work

The group seems to focus well around doing good deeds for our four footed friends in this world so I have expanded our horizons and will be including links to all the Animal Protection web sites and Humane Societies in the region. This is a good way for this site to reach out, one small step at a time, and make this world a better place.

Several transports have already taken place, some dogs placed in foster homes and some in permanent homes. We even transported seven rabbits to rescue from Champaign to Carbondale, Illinois. Yes, even the four footed rabbit finds a haven in this group.

I am working on setting up a Hearing Foundation for getting hearing aids to those in need. If you have hearing aids not being used, or see hearing aids at yard sales and auctions- please purchase for the few dollars asked and I will pay you for them including shipping. This project has already caught the attention of group members and hearing aids are starting to roll in.

    Real Time Meet Hosts Needed

If you would like to host a real time meet in your area, we would be thrilled to assist you to do that. Just contact a Moderator and they will get you all the assistance you need.

    Conclusion

I hope you all are having a great week. Look forward to seeing you publish on the boards. We need volunteers to help with the site - just contact a moderator.

The solution to your singleness is in your ability to be pro-active and network!

  • Helping The World Hear !

I am in the process of setting up a Hearing Foundation to assist people in obtaining a hearing aid. Many people can not afford hearing aids and used hearing aids can be adjusted or re-cased at reasonable costs to be used again. Medicare does not pay for hearing aids and the elderly often can not afford to purchase hearing aids. I see this every day where I work.

Cancer is one of those illnesses than can result in loss of hearing due to the ravages of chemo which damages the hair cells in the inner ear that enable hearing. A hearing aid can make a difference in the quality of life for people in this situation and enable family and health care workers to communicate with the patient

If you have a used hearing aid you are not using, or see a hearing aid at a yard sale or auction for a few dollars - please purchase and I will gladly reimburse you plus shipping.

Illinois Singles Supports these Animal Humane Societies and Rescue Shelters!

WE are working on links to put here for local Animal Humane Societies and Rescue Shelters. If you live in Illinois/Missouri/Western Kentucky and have such a shelter in your area - we will be glad to list it here.

Here is a report from our Missouri Moderator:

This trip was a result of a plea I had posted on the Missouri Board for Transporters for this Rescue Transport run organized by Connie Foster.

Bambi responded to the email I put on the board and the following resulted:

    Subject: [SinglesMissouri] Rescue Transport

    Hi everyone,

I had such a great day today I helped transport a 8 month old dog. Her name is Candy Girl.from Poplar Bluff to Paducah, Ky. She is such a sweetheart. The first thing that she did was lay her head on my shoulder and give me a big kiss. I don't understand how people could put her in a shelter knowing that the end result would be her death, She is so loving and gentle and I am so glad that she has a loving new home to go to.

The transport started in Springfield this morning and will end up in North Carolina tomorrow. The rescue groups do such a great job. This is the first time that I had done anything like this and I am so glad that I did.

There was an extra bonus. I picked up Tina on the way. She is a great lady and you really need to get to know her. We had a nice time talking and getting to know each other.

Thank you Tina for making the trip easier for me by keeping me company for the last leg of our journey.

So what did everyone else do today?

    Bambi

Way to go Bambi ! Making a difference in this world = one small step at a time !

    Singles Buddy Finder!

To find an instant bundle of love just click on any of these links and find yourself a pet that will suit your lifestyle. Most of these sites will insist on your providing some type of reference - just understand there is real justification for these credential requests.

Remember: a pet is for "life" not a passing fad.

There are volunteer transportation chains that will help you get your pet across the country at no charge. Also, these transport chains urgently need volunteers to drive legs of these chains. Volunteer to help in the 50 mile radius around your area. It could save a pets life!
