Our home was built in 1968 and we needed to remodel the kitchen.  In addition to its George Jetson styling and inconvenient galley design it was tiny by modern standards.  The kitchen was a thoroughfare to the back yard and the dining area was not convenient to the rest of the house. The electric cooktop stopped working, the full-featured double ovens reduced to one function (heating), the noisy dishwasher becoming incontinent, the refrigerator was making expensive noises, everything was falling apart!  Top of the line for 1968 just didn't cut it. Our new floorplan (the wife's idea) is quite a change, we flipped the new kitchen into the former dining area.  More space, better layout, better view!  We have a 5-burner gas cooktop on an island, downdraft vent, full size double convection ovens, 48-inch built-in fridge, new dishwasher, Corian countertops with integral sink, and built-in buffet. We chose Custom Kitchen Bath Center of Fremont CA for our design and construction, and they did a superb job.  Please check out our "credits" page for more information, and our site map for links to photos and descriptions of the daily progress.

This is what we started with...

Straight out of 1968!  The dark hallway on the left is a space-robbing four-foot path to the pantry.

The dining room area - this will become the new kitchen.  We never used the dining room because it was so far removed from the rest of the living area.

And this is the result...

Same view as above, the kitchen is now the dining area.
