The Glens Falls Summer Hockey Academy is entering its eighth summer. Its original intent was to offer ice time to players, in our area, for the summer months.
However, the scope has increased to prepare our high school aged players for a successful season as a member of a team. In our second and third summers we progressed to playing a couple of games against local high school summer teams.
Last summer we played more teams, resulting in more competition. The success of these games is evident in the development of our players.
Hockey requires off-season work from its participants. I am pleased to announce there will be more weight training involved at the high school this summer. There will also be dry land training for players not already involved in a fall sport.
But most importantly, players will play more competitive games this summer against more local schools and all Academy players will play in tRutland VT and a Queensbury tournament.
As always, players from all area schools are invited to participate in the Summer Academy. But, if the core of the players is from Glens Falls, we will only further our development as a team.
