| Glenfitor Kerry Blues |
| July 2009 Ed was surrendered by his owner to a Pound. Ed, now called Jake, is lucky enough to have now have a loving home with John who adores him ! Many thanks to John ! June 2009 Ted was surrendered by his owner as their circumstances had changed and they could not keep him. He is very friendly dog, he is good with other dogs and hasgood basic obedience. However his gurading instinct is high and he is lucky to have gone to a lovely home with Sarah who is very experienced and understands work will have to be done with Ted. Many thanks to her ! May 2009 Reilly was surrendered by his owners to a rescue shelter. He is a big framed dog but only weighs 23 lbs, he is grossly underweight. The hair was so badly matted in between his pads that his pads were bleeding. His ears were full of hair and his eyes were infected. He is a lovely young dog and is blessed to have found a lovely home with Liam and his family. Many thanks to them for caring for Reilly. It will take quite some time to build him up but the reward will be a happy, healthy young dog ! April 2009 Chaka is a young neutered male. His owner could not keep him. He had developed issues of protection towards her and needs discipline. Chaka is otherwise a very friendly dog who just needs some direction. He has gone to a lovely relaxed home with an experienced owner and I am happy that Paul has given him a second chance. January 2009 Mopsey was abandoned by her owner and brought to a local Rescue Shelter, once I was made aware of her I got involved. She is a timid girl who seems to have had a hard enough life. She had a huge benign lump under her neck and this was removed while she was being spayed. Mopsey is now called Cocoa and has a lovely home with Prashanti, Shay, Malika and Kalyan. Many thanks to them for giving her the home she deserves. November 2008 Jack's owner abandoned him with a friend, she loved Jack but had recently adopted a Rescue Westie and therefore could not keep Jack. He has excellent recall, and basic obedience however he does not like other dogs. Jack has gone to a lovely home with Sean and Quiros who are both experienced and dedicated to Rescue. Many thanks to them for opening their home to Jack ! November 2008 Kara and Bubble, mother and daughter were surrendered by their owner due to a change in circumstances. These two get on great and it was important to keep them together. Thankfully Leo had offered to adopt two. These girls have gone to a fantastic home where they are settling in really well ! November 2008 Dara was found straying and in a terrible state, he was grossly underweight, had ear and eye infections and his teeth were very bad. Dara, now called Murphy, has been fortunate to have been placed in a perfect home with another Kerry, Rosie. Many thanks to Paula, Jonathon and their girls for giving Murphy the home and love he deserves ! October 2008 Heidi is a 10 month old bitch who was surrendered by her owners to a Sanctuary. She is timid and needs her confidence built up. She is a sweet bitch and she is fortunate to have gone to a lovely home with Cathy and her family. Many thanks to them for sharing their life with her. May 2008 Kelly was surrendered by her owner on a temporary foster arrangement with a view to it becoming a permanent adoption. He can no longer care for Kelly. She is a very affectionate bitch but on the lead she displays aggression to other dogs but at home she is ok with other dogs. Kelly has gone to a lovely home with Don and his family. She is settling in with his Schnauzers. May 2008 Shadow (F) was surrendered by her owners as they dont have much time to give her and they wanted her to have a better life. She is such a nice character, she is laid back and great with dogs and children. She wags her tail for everyone. Shadow was spayed and has gone to a lovely home with Vernon, Clare, Senan and Cara where she is already being spoiled rotten ! March 2008 Quincey is a 7 month old puppy that was sold as a young pup to an 88 year old woman, understandably she couldnt cope with him as he grew into a young dog and she made the right decision for him by surrendering him to me. Thankfully Quincey has gone to a lovely young family and he will now get the exercise and life he deserves. Thanks to Joan, Jude and the boys for sharing their life with Quincey. Shadow's (M) owners are emigrating and could not take him with them. He is a much loved family dog. Shadow is a lovely dog but he is terribly unpredictable. He does not like to be reprimanded and the use of certain words, like No, sends him into a tantrum. He also suffers from seperation anxiety. Many thanks to my dear friends Sue and Peter for taking Shadow into her home and continuing the work we have started to try and rehabilitate him! January 2008 Fin's owners could no longer keep him due to illness. He was a much loved family dog and it was heartbreaking for them to have to give him up. Fin has a lovely home with a Weimeraner and Eamon and Linda. He is will enjoy having company all the time. Many thanks to Eamon and Linda for opening their home to this lovely young dog. Sam is a lovely natured, gentle dog. His owners surrendered him to me as they wanted a better life for him. He is lucky to have gone to a lovely home with Kay and her family. Their last Kerry died at the ripe old age of 13. Many thanks to them for adopting Sam and offering him the home he deserves. Setanta is an energetic, happy dog. He has had a traumatic time. He was found straying after being hit by a car. He was grossly underweight and so badly matted his coat could not be saved. Setanta has gone to a lovely Man Utd mad family. Thankfully Clodagh, their grand daugther will be choosing his new name because it was left to Paddy no doubt he'd be called Scholes or Sparky or something :-) Setanta will have a good life with this lovely family. Star is a gorgeous 3 year old bitch who was a stray who was grossly underweight. In her two weeks in foster care with us she has gained 8 lbs. Her coat was in a terrible bad state but under that coat was a very pretty bitch. She is so gentle and biddable and very easy to live with! Star has gone to a great home and if any bitch deserves it she does! Thanks to Roger and Judith for opening their home to her. Sasha is approx 3 years old. She was in foster care with us for a month waiting for her perfect hime. She was thought to have been stolen and was given to me by the SPCA, thanks Annie ! She is spayed and house trained and very biddable. She is allergic to cats. She is a very happy, outgoing bitch that loves long walks and lots of exercise. She has a lovely nature and will be a great addition to anyones home. Sasha has gone to the most perfect home. Judith has had Kerries and her beloved Libbey died during last year. Sasha will be out with horses and other dogs when Judith is out riding and will go to the office with Judith during the day. She is lucky to be going to this ideal home! Thanks Judith! October Ed is a 3 year old male who was surrendered for the second time, through no fault of his own, to the Cork Pound. Many thanks to Karen Clayton (Scottie Rescue) for getting him out and on the train to me. His coat was so badly matted I could not save much of it. He is a lovely temperamented dog. He had an ear infection and it is being treated. Many thanks to Hugh Jordan for putting Joanne in contact with me and thanks to Joanne and her family for giving Ed a wonderful home with acres of secure land to roam and a roaring fire to lie in front of. Ed has settled in great, Joe has sent photos. Ed reminds Joe of his last dog and is thrilled with him. Rinca bounced back and is so traumatised by all her moves. She is in good form and has gone to a new family where hopefully she will have lots of attention. Many thanks to Chris and his family for taking Rinca. She is a real sweetie and has so much love to give ! Rosie has had it hard! She was kept on a chain in her old home as she was an escape artist. She is a real sweetheart and just needed love so she would not stray. Her first foster home she escaped from and when found Ger's (Rocky's owner) brother Mark kindly took her in. She settled in well and Mark fell for her so he has decided to adopt her. Many thanks to all concerned for giving Rosie the perfect home she deserves! September Patch was a much loved pet but his owner developed cancer and due to her treatment she could no longer keep him. He was moved from the Pound to a Rescue Shelter and is safe. Two Kerry bitches, mother and daughter were thrown from a car in Cork. Karen (Scottie Rescue) brought them to me and they went straight to my Vet (Nikki Caddle, Priory Veterinary Clinic, Tallaght,). She vaccinated, micro-chipped and wormed them and I brought them to their new home with Niall Mc Govern. Rince is a bouncy happy girl, poor Huntress has a pyometra and is recovering from a hysterectomy. They have since had to be seperated as Rinca attacked Huntress. Oliver has kinly taken Rinca in! August Rosie's owners would no longer keep her. She was chained in their garden. She had been socialised with children and was house trained and her owner wanted to sell her for breeding purposes. I convinced him to give her to me. He did not tell me that Rosie is an escape artist and can jump very high walls. Rosie went to Ger (who already has Rocky) and unfortunately Rocky would not accept her. Ger tried everything but in the end had to let her go for her own sake. She is currently in foster care! Unfortunately Leon's home did not work out and he came back to us. Jackie kindly fostered him for some time, but was not in a position to keep him. He has found the most perfect home with Eithne and I know he will live out the remainder of his life in a happy home. I am very grateful to Eithne, her daugher Saoirse (who has Kerry) and her business partner Rob (who has Tara). Eithne said she got a brilliant welcome home from Leon this evening and that he is eating well. July Daisy is a Kerry Wheaten cross that was found straying in Dublin. She needs a new home. Many thanks to Trish for giving Daisy a second chance. Updated photos will follow of Daisy in her new home. 13/07/2007, Daisy was taken to the Vet to be spayed and found to be in pup. She is recovering well from the procedure. June A Kerry Blue neutered Dog, Dante, requires a new home, unfortunately his owner has died. He is great with people but has not been socialised with cats. He is vaccianted and available to a permanent loving home immediately. Dante has his new home and will be going to the UK shortly, many thanks to Stephen and his wife. Thanks also to Bernard and Anna for their interest in Dante! May Chelsea is a 3-4 year old bitch who was picked up as a stray and is being held in the Dog Pound. She is friendly with dogs and people. Chelsea has been re-united with her owners! Blue, is a 10 month old dog whose owners are moving home and wanted all their dogs re-homed. Many thanks to Jim for taking Blue on and giving him a permanent loving home! Jim's elderly Kerry, bred by myself, had just died recently and he was devastated without him! Duffer, a Kerry Dog was in a Dog Pound up North. He is dog aggressive and has been homed as an only dog. April Kerry, an 8 year old super friendly bitch whose owner has had a baby and does not feel she can give enough time to the her. She came from an area near the sea and was well socialised with horses. Kerry has gone to a lovely home with an elderly Kerry dog, Teddy, she is by the sea and will be living with horses, she will be completely spoiled by Eithne who has adopted her. Many thanks Eithne and her daughter Saoirse! Leon, an 8+ stray, rescued a day before he would have been put to sleep in the Pound and fostered by Niall and me until most of his teeth were removed and he was vaccinated and micro-chipped and a new home found for him. Leon is a sweet guy and he has gone to a great home and has settled into his retirement home without any fuss. His new owners are delighted with him and he has been to Scotland on a holiday recently. February Tara, a 4 year old fighting bitch, whose previous owners could no longer cope with her. Tara is now enjoying her life and is no longer showing dog aggression. She is enjoying daily runs on the beach and her life has been turned around by the love and care given to her by Robbie ! Ringo, a 5 year old dog who, despite suffering neglect (severe eye and ear infections, malnourishment and coat matting) at the hands of his owners is a terribly affectionate gentle dog who is great with children and other dogs. Ringo is enjoying his second chance! Kerry, an elderly dog whose family could no longer keep him. Kerry's new owners are enjoying his retirement years and he has settled in well ! |

There are two categories involved, Rescue and Re-homing. In situations where dogs requiring Rescuing there is little time to delay and the dog must be taken from the environment immediately. These situations put us under more pressure as transport, a foster home and veterinary treatment are required immediately. Generally where owners request their dogs are re-homed through us they will keep the dog, giving us the time to locate the perfect home for their dog. Experienced Kerry people are required for Foster and Permanent homes ! If you know of anyone who would be willing to offer a Kerry a second chance please contact me. Fionnuala Tel: 00353 86 8750614 If you are interested in • adopting a Kerry Blue or • you have a Kerry Blue that requires re-homing • or you can help with transportation or fostering of Rescued Kerries • making a donation towards the upkeep/care of Rescued Kerries when the situation arises. •You can donate through Paypal, the account to be paid is glenfitor@esatclear.ie. I vaccinate, micro-chip and worm all dogs, if they are not already done. All dogs are neutered. Many thanks to those who have made donations in the past ! | LEON Leon watching TV during the time he was fostered by us and the photo on the right was taken when he was in the Pound. During his first stay with us poor Leon had to have most of his teeth removed as they were rotten. He is such a sweet gentleman. Unfortunately his first home did not work out on a long term basis and Leon returned to us. He is now with Eithne and safe ! |
