This Thursday October 24 2002, the Kitchener Waterloo Paranormal Research Society visited The Fiddlers Green Irish Pub, but the building was not always a pub. During the turn of the century this building was used as the towns Post Office, and that's were the story of Emily and William begins.
Emily, a postal employee and William S.Turnbull, the Postmaster from 1898 to1919 were involved in an affair. Emily, frustrated and upset, threatened William that she would go public with there affair, tarnishing his reputation. Strangely enough a few days later, Emily;s body was found hanging in the buildings massive clock tower (to the left). It was never discovered whether Emily took her own life or was murdered, though no one was charged with her death. A few days after Emilys death, William died in his sleep, they say of a broken heart.
The Spirits of Emily and William still roam the halls of the building to this day. William has been spotted wondering the stair case leading to the third floor, searching sadly for Emily, and customers have sighted a woman looking out the window of the bell tower. Through out the years since Emily and Williams deaths, many strange happenings have occurred. Lights will slowly dim to nothing, even though the building does not have light dimmers installed, water taps will turn on after being shut off, and chairs bounce across the floor effortlessly on their own, the windows to the bell tower which are screwed shut, have on numerous occasions re-opened on there own. A bottle, was videotaped flying off the bar and spinning across the room, smashing to the floor. One day Todd, having a bad day, told Emily "Enough is Enough" and not five minuets later, all of the florecent tube lights in the girls bathroom were burnt out. Later that night the boys bathroom was flooded.
The picture to the right is an artist renditions of Emily. She is sadly roaming the halls of the Fiddlers Green. This is one of the staircase's that lead up to the bell tower, which we were lucky enough to investigate. Click here for our investigation!
