ActiveX Stuff

The following files amount to a pseudo tutorial on using the ActiveX controls packaged with Visual dBASE 7.  Hopefully this will supplant the lack of proper documentation included with these controls and you'll be able to get some use out of them because some are quite powerful.

Please note that these downloads do not include the ActiveX controls. These controls were distributed with Visual dBASE 7.0.  The downloads are only forms with copious comments to show you how to use these controls in the VdB environment.

PINNACLE.ZIP (7k)
Illustrates using the Pinnacle Graphics Server control for charting from within Visual dBASE.  This is the most compatible of the three charting controls included with VdB.

VSPELLER.ZIP (3k)
This control allows you to do spell checking in Visual dBASE.  This control is a demo version from Visual Components that does not allow you to add words to the dictionary.

FIRSTIMP.ZIP (9k)
This is the First Impression charting control from Visual Components.  Clearly, this is the most polished and powerful of the three charting controls, but unfortunately, this is a demo version which does not allow more than 24 data points in a chart.

F1.ZIP (13k)
This is the Formula One workbook from Visual Components.  For all of you who have ever wanted a non-datalinked grid, this is your tool.  The download includes two forms.  One of the forms is a rather full featured spreadsheet.  The other is a simple little form that will display the contents of an array of up to three dimensions.

CFX.ZIP (12k)
The Chart FX control is the last of the charting controls.  A very nice control.   More powerful than the Pinnacle version and not limited like the First Impression control.

COMDLG.ZIP (8k)
The Common Dialogs control allows you to use the Windows dialogs for Open, Save As, Font and Color selection.
This is not one of the controls that was included in Visual dBASE 7.  This is the Common Dialogs Control included with Visual Basic. If you don't have it, there is a URL to a page where you can download the free "Control Creation Edition" of VB.

LISTVIEW.ZIP (3k)
The ListView component is part of the Window Common Controls ActiveX library, MSCOMCTL.OCX.  This demonstration displays the contents of an array in a ListView control.
