Cumberland Gap, part of the Wilderness Road
We enjoyed our 1995 spring visit to Cumberland Gap National Historic Park so much that we returned in October. Now that the twin tunnels are completed, we would like to go again.
A mural at the foot of Pinnacle Overlook depicts Daniel Boone's axemen.
In May, we viewed the Gap from Pinnacle Overlook. Elevation 2,440 ft.
The easiest way to spot the Gap is from the Tennessee side.
Distant road led to twin tunnels, now open, but under construction in 1995.
