George Spitzer


Baritone, George Spitzer is a versatile and vibrant singer in the fields of opera, oratorio, and the art song literature. Born in Nashville, TN, he was raised in Camden, SC and began his undergraduate studies  at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro where he began his vocal training. He completed his graduate work at the Eastman School of Music under the tutelage of Carol Webber  and Connie Haas and coaches Benton Hess and Russell Miller.

At Eastman, George performed many different leading roles within the Eastman Opera Theater such as Theseus in A Midsummer’s Night Dream, Sipos in She Loves Me,  Prodoscimo in Il Turco in Italia, and the Custom’s Official in La Boheme. This past summer Mr. Spitzer performed the role of Don Alfonso in Cosi Fan Tutte in Urbino and Nova Feltria, Italy. Recently, he has sung the roles of Fiorello and Un Officiale with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra’s production of Il Barbiere di Seville and with the Gregory Kunde Chorale where he was the Bass soloist in Mozart Requiem. He has also recorded J.S. Bach’s Lutheran Masses with The Publick Musick with famed Dutch Bass-Baritone Max Von Edgmund. This fall Mr. Spitzer will be performing as a featured soloist with the acclaimed tenor Gregory Kunde in recital in Rochester, NY. Mr. Spitzer  performed for the Prayer Service for the opening of the 60th anniversary of the United Nations in Manhattan, NY. Mr. Spitzer has been elected full membership in (NATS)the National Association of Teachers of Singing, (MTNA) Music Teachers National Association.
