| Georgia Routes 201-220 |
| GA 201 |
21 Miles |
| Counties Passed Through: Walker, Whitfield,
Catoosa Southern Terminus: SR 136 in Villanow Northern Terminus: SR 2 in Varnell |
|
| Route Information:
SR 201 is split into two parts, joined with a 3-mile multiplex
with US 41/SR 3 through Tunnel Hill. The non-multiplexed portion
totals 18 miles. The northern portion between I-75 and SR
2 is presently being rebuilt as a two-lane improvement. |
|
| GA 202 |
14 Miles* |
| Counties Passed Through: Thomas, Colquitt Southern Terminus: US 19/SR 300 north of Thomasville Northern Terminus: SR 111 eleven miles west of Moultrie |
|
| Route Information:
Decommissioned south of US 19/SR 333
in early 1980's. Originally extended 4 miles further south
to end at US 319 in Thomasville. *Route shares a one-mile multiplex
with SR 188, reducing actual route mileage to 13. |
|
| GA 203 |
47 Miles |
| Counties Passed Through: Pierce, Bacon,
Appling, Wayne Western Terminus: US 84/SR 38 in Blackshear Eastern Terminus: US 84/SR 38 six miles southwest of Jesup |
|
| Route Information: In the
early 1980's, SR 99 existed as a split route with the western
portion joining SR 203. This section of SR 99 extended from
SR 32 six miles east of Alma to US 82 (now 84)/SR 38 southwest of
Jesup at the present SR 203 eastern terminus. By the late 1980's,
SR 203 was extended entirely along this western portion of SR 99, effectively
increasing the mileage from 20 to 47, more than doubling the total
mileage. Because of this, SR 203 now makes a wide arc with
both ends at US 84. |
|
| GA 204 |
37 Miles |
| Counties Passed Through: Bryan, Chatham Western Terminus: US 280/SR 30 in the Lanier community five miles west of Pembroke Eastern Terminus: I-16 (Exit 165) in Savannah |
|
| Route Information: SR 204,
as Abercorn Street, is the economic backbone of Savannah. It
features both of the towns malls and nearly all of the main business
district, ending in downtown Savannah. Interestingly enough,
SR 204 did not even connect to the present route it does today, extending
21 miles from US 280 east of Pembroke and ending at US 17 five miles
northeast of Richmond Hill. In fact, Abercorn Street became
the short-lived SR 359 before it became SR 204. SR 359, added in
FY 1963-64 was a spur that ended at Hunter AFB and was not connected to
SR 204 at all. The SR 359 segment finally became SR 204 in 1968
when the link of the two routes over the marshes was proposed and finally
completed in 1972. |

| GA 205 |
12 Miles |
| Counties Passed Through: Cherokee Local Name: Bells Ferry Road Southern Terminus: SR 92 seven miles east of Acworth Northern Terminus: Marietta Highway (Old SR 5/Old SR 20) in Canton |
|
| Route Information: Decommissioned March 29, 1985 on the same date I-575
opened. SR 205 was originally 9 miles long. When
the SR 92 alignment along Kellogg Creek Road
was removed in favor of the Old Alabama Road alignment,
it was extended 3 miles longer. Kellogg Creek
Road is the gray line shown connecting into SR 205 from the southwest.
Also note proposed I-575, SR 713, in the pic. Another
map of SR 205 may be seen on the SR 5 page. |

| GA 209 |
3 Miles |
| Counties Passed Through: Oconee Local Name: Mars Hill Road Southern Terminus: US 78/SR 10 Northern Terminus: Winder Highway (Old US 29/SR 8) in Bogart |
|
| Route Information: Decommissioned Route (around 1985). It
is no longer possible to drive Old SR 209 as a continuous roadway, since
there is no crossover where the route connects SR 316. See map above for SR 207, which
also shows SR 209. |
|
| GA 210 |
1 Mile |
| Counties Passed Through: Walker Local Name: West Brow Road Southern Terminus: SR 157 in/on Lookout Mountain Northern Terminus: Tennessee State Line |
|
| Route Information: Route number
changed to 189
in 1977. It also appears that by the mid 1950's that SR 157
and SR 210 swapped places before entering Tennessee. |
|
| GA 211 |
32 Miles |
| Counties Passed Through: Barrow, Gwinnett,
Hall Local Names: Tanners Mill Road, Farm To Market Road, Thompson Mill Road, Statham Highway Southern Terminus: US 29/SR 8/316 south of Statham Northern Terminus: SR 60/332 in Belmont (10 miles south of Gainesville) |
|
| Route Information: SR 211 is actually
three different roads loosely tied together with multiplexes.
SR 211 has a total of two multiplexes that result in the road
being more important in some areas than others. The northernmost
section is between SR 53 in Chestnut Mountain and SR 60 in Belmont,
totalling 4 miles and is locally known as Tanners Mill Road. SR
211 then has a short multiplex along SR 53, turning off to the north.
The middle section, most widely traveled connects SR 53 in Chestnut
Mountain to SR 11/53 in downtown Winder and totals 10 miles. This
section is known as Farm to Market Road in Hall County and Thompson
Mill Road in Gwinnett and Barrow Counties. From there, SR 211
turns northward along a multiplex with the two routes before turning
eastward, multiplexed with SR 11 for three miles. The result
of this multiplex is an interesting assembly of "North 11, South 211".
SR 211 then turns off to the east along Statham Highway before
turning south into Statham. The original terminus was in Statham,
but when US 29/SR 8 was relocated to SR 316 to the south, SR 211 was extended
along former SR 324 a short ways to end at SR 316 where SR 324 would have
continued west. The Statham Highway section totals 9 miles. |
|
| GA 212 |
71 Miles |
| Counties Passed Through: Jasper, Newton,
Rockdale, DeKalb Western Terminus: SR 155 (Snapfinger Road) in southeast DeKalb County Eastern Terminus: SR 22 west of Milledgeville |
|
| Route Information: SR 212 may seem
like the longest road to be largely in the middle of nowhere,
but hunters across Georgia see it differently as some of the best
deer hunting in Georgia can be found in the Piedmont Plateau region
around Milledgeville. SR 212 originally consisted only of the portion
west of SR 81 at Snapping Shoals with SR 162 covering the remainder
of the future route to Monticello. SR 212 was extended to
Milledgeville in FY 1958-59 with part of the route between US 129/SR
49 and Monticello remaining unpaved. The route also featured
a missing link forementioned between the former intersection of
SR 36 and 162 and SR 81 in Snapping Shoals as the routes were soon
to be tied together. This missing link proved to last quite
a while as the two 212's were not linked together until 1972. SR
212 is a very angled highway and this was very much the case where the
route joined SR 16 east of Monticello. A very recent project to
relocate the intersection further east to not have such a sharp angle
was completed with the former road ending at a dead end and not connecting
to SR 212. SR 212 shares a one-mile multiplex with SR 16 in
Monticello, reducing the mileage to total actual mileage to 70. |

| GA 213 |
31 Miles |
| Counties Passed Through: Newton, Jasper,
Morgan, Putnam Local Names: County Road 213, Broughton Road, Little River Road, Godfrey Road, Godfrey Highway Western Terminus: SR 36 south of Covington Eastern Terminus: SR 16 in Eatonton |
|
| Route Information:
SR 213 was decommissioned in 1982.
The route originally consisted only of the portion between SR
36 and SR 83 in Pennington. The original portion of the route,
known today as "County Road 213", totalled 18 miles passing through the
towns of Mansfield and Newborn and included a three-mile multiplex with
SR 142. The portion between SR 36 and SR 142 in Newborn is still
known as "County Road 213", though it is a street name and not signed
with a county route marker. The original eastern segment between
SR 142 and SR 83 is presently known as Broughton Road. This section
also included a SR 213 Spur joining
SR 213/Broughton Road in Pennington west of SR 83 to SR 83 to the north.
In 1972, the route was made twice as long as it was multiplexed for
two miles with SR 142 and then extended along present Little River and Godfrey
Roads, which brought the route into Putnam County. This new portion,
not counting the SR 83 multiplex, totalled 15 miles to end as SR 16 in
Eatonton. Part of this new alignment included a breif multiplex with
now decommissioned SR 300 near Rock Eagle.

| GA 214 |
7 Miles |
| Counties Passed Through: Macon Local Route Number: 302 Western Terminus: SR 26 east of Fountainville Eastern Terminus: SR 26/SR 90 in Oglethorpe |
|
| Route Information: Decommissioned October 1, 1982. Decommissioning
also included SR 214 By-Pass
and SR 214 Spur, both
which deferred main SR 214 from a direct link to SR 128. |
|
| GA 215 |
33 Miles* |
| Counties Passed Through: Ben Hill, Wilcox,
Dooly Western Terminus: SR 27 in Vienna Eastern Terminus: SR 90 nine miles north of Fitzgerald |
|
| Route Information: SR 215 shares
a five mile multiplex with US 280/SR 30 between Pitts and Rochelle.
*This multiplex is not included in the total mileage. |
|
| GA 216 |
41 Miles |
| Counties Passed Through: Calhoun, Randolph Southern Terminus: SR 37 in Elmodel (8 miles west of Newton) Northern Terminus: US 27/SR 1 in Cuthbert |
|
| Route Information: The northernmost
portion of SR 216 was returned to local control upon completion
of the Cuthbert By-Pass of US 27. The route originally connected
now US 27 Business one mile south of downtown Cuthbert. The
decommissioned portion was less than a mile. SR 216 shares
a breif multiplex with SR 37 in Edison and a one-mile multiplex with
SR 45/62 in Arlington, reducing the route's actual mileage to 40. |
|
| GA 217 |
3 Miles |
| Counties Passed Through: Macon Local Route Number: 257 Southern Terminus: SR 128 seven miles north of Oglethorpe Northern Terminus: SR 127 one mile east of SR 128 |
|
| Route Information: This is a hard packed dirt road
that is east of SR 128 and south of SR 127 (forget the
odd-even system). It was decommissioned
in 1969 and basically consisted of 2 roads-one crossing
back over the other. SR 217
has all appearances of a politically-motivated road that served
no purpose whatsoever. |
|
| GA 218 |
3 Miles |
| Counties Passed Through: Walker and Catoosa Local Name: Lakeview Drive Western Terminus: Rossville Blvd. in Rossville (US 27/SR 1) Eastern Terminus: Cloud Springs Road (SR 146) four miles east of Rossville |
|
| Route Information: Decommissioned
August 15, 1986 upon completion of Battlefield
Parkway (SR 2). Purpose of road was mostly due to
Lake Winnepausauka Amusement Park. This road is
a suburban route on the southside of Chattanooga just below East Ridge,
TN. The route is not to current GDOT design specs, but there
is a proposed widening of this road. Click on the link above to view other maps showing SR 218 and the progression of Battlefield Parkway. |
|
| GA 219 |
59 Miles |
| Counties Passed Through: Muscogee,
Harris, Troup, Heard Southern Terminus: US 27/SR 1 in Columbus Northern Terminus: SR 34 five miles west of Franklin |
|
| Route Information: SR 219 originally
did not go all the way to Columbus. Originally, the route ended
at SR 103 about 22 miles north of downtown Columbus where SR 103
and SR 116 presently end into each other. Originally, the present
poriton of SR 219 south of here was part of SR 103. As SR 103
once extended all the way to Buena Vista, SR 103 was later truncated to
present county roads east of Columbus. By the mid-1980's, SR 219
took over most of this remaining portion of SR 103, but was truncated in
downtown Columbus. It is also worth noting that the portion north
of LaGrange is a historic alignment of US 27 between there and
Franklin. |
|
| GA 220 |
18 Miles |
| Counties Passed Through: Lincoln Southern Terminus: US 378/SR 47 four miles southwest of Lincolnton Northern Terminus: US 378/SR 43 five miles northeast of Lincolnton |
|
| Route Information: SR 220
forms a loop south and east of Lincolnton. SR
220 also included a three mile SR
220 Spur out of Kenna that was decommissioned in
1998. |
