Stripped down, raw to basics, fuzzed out rock'n'roll from Wisconsin... this is their first album and it kicks some serious ass, the songs seem to have been written for the only purpouse to jump up in anger & smash everything in sight!!! They also got a bad bluesy-roots'n'roll vibe that add a even more appealing feeling to the whole mess. 12 songs that not easily will let you disappointed. Go out and get one.

CRETIN 66 "Demolition Safari" (Steel cage Records) CD
New album, the second, from Kansas City's best rock'n'roll band: these guys have it all... long hairs, Levis and sneakers, loud guitars and great melodies!! Imagine a musical mix between the Ramones, Black Sabbath, Chuck Berry with a singer that really knows how to give the right feel to a r'n'r song and you get the picture!! Songs about being r'n'r dropouts in a boring world, smoking weed, driving fast and having fun. That's it. I don't need nothing else to be satisfied... plus, they got pictured in the booklet with chainsaws and axes, the drummer wears a Mortician t-shirt... this is my kind of band. Definitely.

LOST SOUNDS "Memphis is Dead" (Big Neck Records) CD
First album for a strange band where the crazy Jay Reatard plays too... so you know you can expect some teenage anger in here, and that's what you get, but in a different way than the Reatards do: this time there's also a girl singing, and an organ involved. The result is a musical mayhem that ranges from typical dirty garage-punk numbers to slow killer ballads like "Its my dream", one of the best numbers, sick, slow, distorted and extremely scary. This is kinda like a bluesy-spooky-r'n'r tale played in 13 acts... have maybe 13 songs been chosen to add more sinister charm to the whole mess?Check it out, if your heart is black.

20 DOLLAR WHORE "Teenage Fuckin' Boredom EP"(Big neck Records) 7"
From the shores of Finland, a bunch of teenage r'n'r dropouts decided to form a band to kill the most horrible beast in man's life: boredom. Like thousands of other teenagers all over the world, these Finnish guys tried music to escape everyday's mediocrity and wrapped up 4 songs of blistering demento garage punk rock, dirty and catchy, sleazy and sexy. This is nothing new, same 3 chords, same anger, but it's good as it is. I can imagine myself being one of these guys: hooked up on cheap drugs and booze, guitar in hand, middle-finger to the world. Genuine shit.

THE BROUGHT LOW (Tee Pee Records) CD
One of the records I'm listening to more lately, a blistering, powerful '70s guitar sound re-worked to fit great with these days. The Brought Low, with former members of MURPHY'S LAW and THE VOLUPTUOUS HORROR OF KAREN BLACK, are the missing link between today's heavy psychedelic rock, southern rock and hard blues played with a punk fury. Ok, you can find some Skynyrd-like vocal parts here and there but hey, there's nothing more standard than rock and roll!! I love this album, it makes me feel good. The way they used a vintage sound is even more appealing to me. Do yourself a favour, check this band out.

HAMMERLOCK "Barefoot & Pregnant" (Steel Cage Records) CD
I love HAMMERLOCK: own all of their records, saw 'em live in Texas, think they're a great band. This third album drops the punk/hardcore fury they used here and there before to dive into a less common southern-fried punk blues style. Hell, they also cover Charlie Daniels, they show guns on the cover... but they come from California and they aren't hicks... recently endorsed by the Confederacy of Scum, these guys (and gal) will surely keep on walkin' the good side of rock. Give'em attention, they deserve. And congratulations for the recent birth of Travis and Liza's son!!! In fact, she looks pregnant on the cover...

COLUMBIAN NECKTIES "Abrance!" (Sounds of Subterrania) CD
First album from Denmark's most acclaimed punk rock band (released after some singles and a 10") on the cool SOS label. Some of these guys used to play in Shake Appeal, a very cool band by me, fast and raw as fuck. The Neckties remain raw as fuck, while slow things down a bit, providing a real fuzzed out approach, a back to basic punk rock album and a good attitude. The sound is something like the Devil Dogs were lo-fi and Japanese: good rock songs, maybe a bit too unclean for me. I'm a bit sick of all this lo-fi sound thing, I mean, that's good and fine tryin to have a raw sound but most of the times if the band has some good skills playing, it ruins the whole result. I don't know, it's a good record, but not as good as I expected knowing these guys were in Shake Appeal.
