Adrian Fletcher (Fletch) became one of Fremantle's best assets this year, proving a big loss to Brisbane who traded him in 1997. He won the clubs Best & Fairest 1999 and received 15 Brownlow medal votes, equaling Eagle Ben Cousins. Adrian is co-captain of the Dockers sharing the role with Shaun McManus. First recruited from Tasmania in 1989 he has played for Geelong, St Kilda, Brisbane (Bears & Lions) and now Fremantle. According to West Australian (26/3/99) he likes Steak, Powerade, Women's Basketball, National Lampoons Vacation, Yani, Relaxing and he drives a Commodore. Some other awards he has won: (equal fourth) Herald-Sun Player of the Year, 1998 William Leitch medal, 1999 W.A Football Media Guild for best AFL player in the State.
