Free-form Modular Model Railroading in New Zealand

Welcome
Welcome

Free-Mo NZ is a great modular concept, which has its roots in Free-Mo (USA) and FREMO (Europe). The concept is designed to allow the assembly of a point to point model railroad that features a single track mainline with passing sidings.

You, as the modeller, can pick your favourite scene on your prototype and create a modularised Layout Design Element (LDE) of that scene. When connected with other modellers' LDEs, a fully operational and realistic model railroad is created. Our aim is then to operate our trains on these layouts in a prototypical manner, thereby bringing these realistic scenes to life.

We are currently focusing on HO scale standard gauge as the starting point for this project. However, this concept may be applied to any scale, gauge, era, or prototype equally well. All that is required is for a group of modellers in any particular genre to adopt the concept and agree on certain minimum requirements for the module interface.

Visit the Free-Mo and FREMO websites for more information on this concept.

Be sure to pop back often as this site is updated on a regular basis.
