Welcome to the club.

This web site is dedicated to the trees and forests of Barrie, and their relationship with forests in Canada and worldwide.

In time, it is anticipated that citizens from across town will make up our membership, and will share an interest in Barrie's trees and forests. This should have the following advantages:

  • a growing interest in the environment around us, particularly in our forests, our parks and street trees
  • a watchful eye on disturbances around town, including insect infestation, vandalism and uncontrolled development
  • linkage with neighboring communities
  • educational potential for local schools
  • cooperation with landowners, both public and private

As a beginning project, we could pick some of our city parks for study, perhaps assigning parks in various parts of town to individuals or families to "care for". More is included on the Barrie Parks page.
