HISTORY
F
oggy furze folk club was born one night in February 2003  on the way home from a night at the Wellington folk club in Wolviston where the travelling rogues had just finished a guest night. Ian had the idea of forming our own club, so with the backing of the manager at the Travellers Rest the rogues with Ian Jan and Mike started every Tuesday night. Eventually playing every Tuesday got too much for the Rogues and they decided to stop. Fortunatly on their last night Neil Gibson had come along that night and prevailed upon Ian to keep it going, and from then on the club grew and went from strength to strength. the name was chosen because of the location of the Travellers Rest. Ian ran it, Neil became guest organiser, Jan treasurer, Diane Kidd did the publicity and Kay De'ath became Ian's deputy. After a year or so  the club democratized and an election was held for the chairmans posititon, Ian was elected and became the first official chairman. Ian resigned in July 2005 and Kay De'ath took the club to election in October when Jan Hall was elected the second chair of the club.
