The Fnord Empire is based on Rroo'tah, a planet roughly 1.5 times as large as Earth, with 1.5 G gravity, occupying the fifth orbital ring of a red giant star.
The overall technological level of the native humanoids is roughly equal to that of Victorian England Earth. The overall societal level, however, is feudal, akin to Medieval Earth.
Archeville rules the people of Rroo'tah with benovelence and kindness. Archeville is a native of Earth, and discovered Rroo'tah approximately 150 [Earth] years ago. At that time, the people were at a tech- and societal-level roughly equal to the Roman Empire at its' height. The planet was being decimated by a plague, and Archeville stopped it, as it was a disease unlike any he had ever seen. He also left the people with some technical manuals and a few advanced gadgets, and left them, resuming his exploration of the Universe.
Over time, the people of Rroo'tah advanced, and at a rapid pace thanks to Archeville's gifts. Temples and shrines were erected in his honor, and some came to worship him as a deity. Of course, not all Rroo'tahnians agreed on various aspects of 'Archeville worship', and a 'Holy War' erupted. The war, incidentally, helped advance Rroo'tah's tech levels.
The War had reached a new height, and several factions had gathered for an battle of apocalyptic proportions. Just as all sides were about to clash, the skies, blackened with smoke, opened up as a gigantic egg-shaped vessel landed.
All the Generals gathered around the mysterious object, sending off messengers to get reinforcements and sages to study it. Warriors poked and prodded its smooth surface, but it stood unaffected, remaining upright and motionless. 2 days after landing, a sphincter-like portal opened on the top of it, and out stepped a Legend from Rroo'tah's past - The Archeville...
