Question: If you cut off someone else's sign, are you then able to use it?
Answer: No. Not even if you sew it on. And no, if you have your sign cut off and you sew it back on, it still won't work.
Question: What is the currency of Naruta?
Answer: Coins. More specifically, Copper Coins. But just Coins will work too.
Question: Does losing your sign transform you into a Clear?
Answer: No.
Question: Are you still affected by Clears powers?
Answer: Yes, but it's unlikely any Clear will hunt a powerless elemental.
Question: Can a sign be repaired, or in the more extreme cases, replaced?
Answer: The only instance I can think of is, shortly after injury, being healed by a Water type's healing waters. However, after the scar tissue sets in, no. And the only way to 'replace' a sign is to spontaneously gain a new one, like you would with a second sign. And, like gaining a second sign, the odds are low of it happening. Any other way other than what I mentioned would require a Force Quest.
Question: Are there horses in Naruta?
Answer: Yes.
Question: How does the beast sign work? Do I just touch it and my beast-affinity appears?
Answer: You have to touch your sign and send an empathetic wave of some sorts, either by thinking about your beast, or soemthing to that extent. You can do this with any animal, but your affinity is most likely to respond positively. You can't force an animal to come to your summons, though. You can also use it to speak to animals and understand them.
Question: What do I do if I want a second character
Answer: Just add it to your profile.
Question: Is there any way for an Elemental to keep from being caught by a Clear?
Answer: If an elemental is around a group of also free elementals, then a phenonemon occurs were the influence of the Clear is lessened. The stronger the bonds between the elementals, the weaker the Clear influence becomes. But for any measure of true immunity would require an enchantment bestowed by a Force after completing a Force Quest.
Question: Can clear be combined with a second element?
Answer: No.
Question: If an elemental is under the control of a clear, can another clear steal that elemental away?
Answer: No. An elemental can only be 'taken' if they're free from the influence of any other Clear. The presence of other Clears around a captured elemental simply helps reinforce the the hold that the owner Clear has.
Question: Can Clears sense it when Elementals are around them? For example, if an elemental was hiding from a Clear to try and escape being caught, would the Clear know there was an Elemental around?
Answer: No
Question: Hmmm... my question is that is there any bunnying here? coz i wouldnt mind it.
Answer: No. The only exception is player killing/capturing, whatever. And then you must have consent of everyone involved that what you're about to do is okay.
Question: would it be possible for a child of an [Element 1] and an [Element 2] type to just inherit two [Element 1] signs?
Answer: Mostly no, possible yes. In almost all cases, no, however if the parent of Element 2 had a parent that was Element 1, there's a better chance of it, but the odds are still slim. (It'd be like a recessive gene skipping a generation and then combining with another recessive gene to become dominant)
Question: In elemental pairings, what are the percentage chances of the offspring being a Clear?
Answer: Same Element paring - 13%. Different Element pairing - 7%.
Question: do parents of a baby clear become dominated right then, or is there like and incabation period for newborns and younger clears?
Answer: Well the strength of the pull is partially dependent on maturity, so the pull would be extremely weak. I think the parents would feel extremely attached to that particular child (assuming they don't get rid of it right away) If there's siblings, they might dote on the Clear more than any other elemental children.
Question: How effective are elemental powers at birth?
Answer: Elemental powers are inherent at birth, but knowledge of them isn't. If a child never receives training, they'll never know how to use their powers. If they receive training, as soon as they're old enough to grasp it, they can use their powers. Their powers are weaker because they're so young, but grow with practice and time, just like training in anything else.
Question: Hey Kender Bard, what kind of clothing is usually seen in Naruta?
Answer: Hmm, the typical kind of clothing is dependent on the region and elemental wearing it. Dresses are the norms for girls, but boy clothing is acceptable in most places now. Fire types tend to wear as little as possible, skins and furs from hunting. Mind types all like to wear robes, particularly those from Pyremens and exempting those from the Khelek Crystalands. Beast types, like the Fire types, usually wear whatever they have to to stay modest. The Khelek Crystalands wear thick wools and furs. The Ronduin people like glittery, sparkly clothing (for those living in the watery areas). Other than that, anything you'd normally find in a Rennasaince Fair is the norm.
Question: If a Sign is located on someone's hand, like on the fingers or palm, does the opposing hand have to be touching it to allow the element to work, or can it be activated by making a fist or snapping the fingers?
Answer: You can activate it however you like (including the ideas you suggested) so long as it's touching another part of your body.
Question: Are there posting orders for the topics?
Answer: It's a post whenever system until things get confusing or if someone feels that the topic is moving too fast. In that case, I'll enforce a posting order, but only for that topic.
Question: I ran across a mention of using a chant to the Elements for a complex/powerful spell. How does that fit in to the power scale?
Answer: Okay, let's use Acqua for an example. If Acqua wanted to use her abilities to create or manipulate a small amount of water (enough to splash Amaro in the face for example) then she doesn't need the chant. If she wanted to do something big (like the small rainstorm she created in the battle against the Clears) she needs to use the chant in order to strengthen her ability to create water. The larger the move you want your character to preform with their element, the more likely it is they'll need the chant. If you're in any doubt, use the chant.
Question: I've signed up, and made a profile, but now what do I do?
Answer: First of all, you can always start a new post. I realize I made a statement in the announcements that new posts would have a 24 hour waiting period before NPC interaction (unless it's to continue another post already in motion), so as to allow other players to get involved, but I exempt newbies - I don't want you to have to wait before getting started with interaction! So feel free to make a new post wherever you wish. It can be something as simple as taking a stroll or as complex as a training session. You can interact with an NPC in your starting post and I'll take over, or simply have your character act alone and I'll come in with an NPC of my own. Secondly, you can join a post already in motion. I don't believe anyone ever takes affront to this method. The more the merrier! If you do, on the rare off chance, post in a topic that is currently only for certain people, I will politely let you know and help you find a new topic to join.
Question: If I touch my Beast sign to my [insert element] sign, could I make a creature out of that element in the shape of my beast-affinity?
Answer: Yes, but as soon as you broke contact with the two signs, it would fade away. Keeping it in existence is a continually draining thing as well.
Question: How do I post a link, or the picture of my character in a post?
Answer: Upload the image to a hosting service such as photobucket then put {IMG}"insert URL of your picture here"{/IMG} in your post. For a link put {url="insert website address here"}"insert name of website here"{/ur} in your post.
Replace the { } with [ ]. Also, you can upload to imageshack using the "Upload an Image" option in your post.
Question: Is there a limit to the number of characters of the same element you can make?
Answer: Nope, not at all. Make as many as you wish.
Question: Is it generally encouraged that new characters just have one sign?
Answer: Well... I personally don't mind if you go for a two-sign starter, especially if they're not the same elements. If someone takes a two-signer and they're going power-crazy with them, I'll step in and say something, but so far we've had no incidents like that and I'm pretty laid back as far as two-signs go. Three, however, is pretty much off-limits for your first character. I like to limit those to just the world leader NPCs. If you want to play one of those NPCs though, after you sign up and have played a little, I'd be more than happy to hand one over.
Question: Is there peanut butter in Naruta?
Answer: This should go down as the strangest question asked in the history of the game. But to answer it, yes, there is peanut butter in Naruta. However it doesn't taste like the stuff you'd get in the store today. It's basically just ground up peanuts with a base of butter.
Question: What determines the ability of a Clear to get a slave? i.e. How one can get a two-sign while another cannot?
Answer: Age is an important factor. The older the Clear the stronger their power is. But generally it takes two people to snag a two-sign, and more to grab a three-sign. Regardless, each Elemental slave only ultimately binds to one master.
Question: Is there anything in particular I should know about the culture of the Ice types?
Answer: Ice types are not only independent as a nation, but as individuals. They realize, though, that they can't just ignore each other. So they decided that it would fall upon the Leader of their people to keep an eye on what's going on between the people as well as what goes on in the world. In a way, it's not a coveted position. While they have an election to determine their leader, the leader gets full and absolute power when it comes to settling things and making laws and such.
Question: What are houses in Khelek made of?
Answer: I would think stone... even though a city of ice would be pretty, I doubt it is structurally sound enough to withstand an enemy army... such as they always fear.
Question: What sort of herbs are in Naruta? And how are the herbs used?
Answer: The same herbs that can be found in the real world can be found in Naruta. You use them the same way as well - either you grind them up and add them to things to make medicine, some are made into pastes to be put onto bandages, etc.
Question: How isolated is Clan Aluvar? Asin, do the recognize the outside world? How fiercly do they defend their island? And how much do the other beast clans know about it?
Answer: They know there's another world out there - some of their people have gone out exploring and returned with tales. But for the most part they're very isolated, only venturing out a few times to conduct trade with Ronduin. The other Beast clans aren't aware of it at all, or if they do, it's only a select few that realize this. They will defend their island with their lives, much like any of the clans would for their territory.
Question: Does Clan Aluvar have his own leader or is Faolan their leader too?
Answer: Faolan is still the dominant leader of all Beasts. They do have their own clan leader though, as do Poldora and Beleg - a two signer that makes sure the laws are kept, and whatnot.
Question: After the fall of Lacuna, could a Clear wander into Ilyamen because they thought Ilyamen would be safer than Reave or are Clears still forbidden to enter?
Answer: If a Clear went to Ilyamen, they'd probably be attacked on sight unless they were, say, in dire need of assistance - like they were wounded and obviously in need of medical help, or it was a woman with a baby/pregnant, that sort of thing.
Question: Would all cities be like that?
Answer: Hmm... No, but most of them, I'd wager. Talen'sul would be kind. They might not let them in the city but they'd try to help from afar (or send out Tom, since he's a resident Clear at the moment). I would like to believe that Humontis would do the same if they weren't in turmoil at the moment over the appearance of their dragon. Normally Ronduin would help but the war has left them paranoid and they'd probably sternly tell the Clear to bugger off. Atyar would welcome them with open arms.
Question: I get that a Clear's ability to capture Elementals is at least partially dependant on age. But can you control it?
Answer: No, Clears cannot control their entrapping ability, much to the dismay of some.
Question: I get that it's less likely that a young clear will be able to hold a two sign elemental, but what about a former two sign?
Answer: Former two signs? As in, their signs were removed? *shrug* *nod* Sure, it's possible to capture a former two signer, and the difficulty of doing so is probably drastically reduced.
Question: Is there a precident (Or has it ever happened) That an Elemental is willing to be held by a clear?
Answer: It's definately happened before. I've even played it to happen before with Calim, and TUO has played it with Lessa. In Lessa's case, the Clear Tom adopted her, and took her away from some hostile people. She was happy to bond with him, but she's his 'daughter' not his slave. And with Calim, he bonded with Tom the first time because his former master was cruel. Now he's willing to do it again because he wants to be with Lessa. Some of the Clears and Elementals in Atyar were a purposeful thing too - they're either good friends or family, and the 'bond' isn't abused or even noticed.
Question: Are homosexual relationships tolerated in Naruta?
Answer: See the culture section of the main website or send me a PM for more information as it's dependent on different areas of the world.
Question: How easy is it to conceal abuse?
Answer: Well there's no makeup to hide bruises, so if it's in a spot that can't be easily concealed (say the face) it's rather hard. Clothing can cover up most things though.
Question: What sort of accidents would there be in the plains?
Answer: Accidents..? Hrm, well, monsters/animals/bandits could get you. Dying of thirst or hunger if you didn't bring provisions and you got lost and couldn't hunt. Falling down and twisting an ankle. That's about the gist of it.
Question: What is there in the way of supernatural creatures running around?
Answer: See the Culture section of the website.
Question: What is there for fairy tales?
Answer: Probably a bunch of stuff that's very much alike, with just some things changed, like names, and animals and stuff. Most of the stories are probably geared towards teaching morals and stuff.
Question: How do I change all the information about myself? (The stuff under my screenname on the left hand side of the post)
Answer: All the info in your mini-profile (that's what it's called) is edited when you edit your main profile (the one that's your actual account. You edit it by clicking on the "profile" button under the banner or by clicking on your name and hitting 'edit profile').
Question: When should I post my profile?
Answer: You should repost your character info in profiles ASAP.
Question: Can I combine 2 powers in Naruta, like use one element in the form of another...? (EX: If I get a storm/water, can I create a wave of electricity that behaves like water?)
Answer: No
Question: So the powers can't be merged to create new effects?
Answer: The closest thing to merging is Beast/??? pairings, wherein you can shape your ??? element to look like your beast affinity, but that is extremely, incredibly draining. You CAN get creative in other ways - for example Fire/Ice. Create a sphere of ice with fire inside, and treat it like a grenade.
Question: Is there any way to 'force' or 'gift' an elemental sign to another?
Answer: No. The closest you could do to that is aid someone in training themselves to get it.
Question: Do [Beast Types] choose the [animal affinity] and take that animal's characteristics, or is it innate and selected at birth?
Answer: Innate and selected at birth.
Question: What happens when a clear dies, is the bond on their enslaved broken?
Answer: Yes.
Question: Can signs be merged? (EX: Can a second sign appear within the first, changing the first and second into a single 'merged' sign?)
Answer: No.
