Where is Craig?

APRS (Automatic Packet Reporting System) is a neat application that marries GPS (Global Positioning System) technology with good old VHF Ham Radio. In a nutshell, I broadcast my GPS latitude/longitude position every minute or so, and any amateur land station....or satellite....that can hear me reports my position to a central web server.

Here is an example map which shows some points that I've traveled in my home area near Columbus, OH.

For my ride, you can check in and see where I am! There are some coverage limitations, but I've included different views:

Latest Known Position - this view will show you information such as speed, direction, altitude, etc for my last known good position.

Breadcrumb Trail - the example map above is a Breadcrumb Trail map. It works well if you stay in one area, like the map above shows. I don't yet know how it'll work when I start traveling across the country. Click on the button below and see!

North America Trail Map - I have a pre-defined map of North America which shows fewer details of my actual route, but gives you the "big picture".
