On November 8, 2008 the new Memorial to Our Fallen Heroes was presented to the City of Fredericksburg and the surrounding communities. The project took the area veterans almost 10 years to the day to save the existing WWI memorial, design a new memorial and gather the resources to make it a reality. As of this Veterans Day, 2008 the area Roll of Honor consists of 403 men and women from the Fredericksburg area who gave their lives for our freedom. Visitors will find their names inscribed on the memorial walls. |

The Fredericksburg Area Memorial To Our Fallen Heroes On these pages the Veterans of the Fredericksburg area present the result of our ten-year struggle to honor the memory of the 403 of our fathers, bothers, neighbors and fellow citizens who sacrificed their lives for the freedom we all enjoy today. Let us ensure that their deaths were not in vein, that we are worthy of their sacrifice. Let us always honor them and preserve the great gift of freedom they have given us and pass it on for future generations. The Memorial is Complete |
