Jimmy Barnes is an icon of the Australian music scene. He has got one of the most powerful voices in rock music today. Euro Barnestormers was the only official Jimmy Barnes fan club between 1994 and 1997. I was involved from its inception in 1994 until May 1996.
Our Philosophy
Euro Barnestormers aimed to provide a free information service, as we felt that too many fan clubs were just interested in making money, and not providing good value for money in return. As fans, we aimed to produce something that we would have been happy to subscribe to ourselves! In return for giving us their name and address, members received several 12 page A4 newsletters per year, which included messages from Jimmy, tour news, features on areas such as recording sessions, video shoots, and albums, exclusive competitions, classified ads, members' letters, and merchandise (including many promotional items, discounted back catalogue CDs, T-shirts, badges, and posters).
Several years ago, and long after the demise of the fan club itself, I decided to try to preserve Euro Barnestormers by transferring all of our archived material onto the web, but sadly these few pages are as far as I got before I moved house and the project got buried. I do still have half a filing cabinet full of cuttings, photos and newsletters, which, inspired by the prospect of Jimmy touring the UK imminently, I'm starting to knock into shape as a new, improved 'stormers site - details will be posted here once it goes live.
