Our Library's history started in 1967, during the Centennial year, with the building of the Angus location. Through the years, the Essa Centennial Library in Angus expanded, and a library service was established in the Thornton area. Finally, in 1996, the Angus Branch was renovated to the present modern facility. Later that same year, the Thornton Branch was opened with a bright, open concept library.
Providing top-notch service to our patrons is our priority.
Our book collection includes new best-selling adult titles in both print and audio, reference and non-fiction, large-print, young adult, juvenile and easy readers. We also provide an extensive video collection, that is supplemented regularly through library-sharing programs. In addition, we offer inter-library loan service through INFO and Simcoe County Library Co-operative, to meet the need for material not in our collection. Special event programming is a very popular part of our library service, featuring ceramic classes, summer children's reading club and displays to commemorate special times.
As we look toward the future...libraries are not just about books anymore! Technology is being embraced by the library with the advent of automation, Internet and computer services. While these electronic resources are gaining popularity, we are also mindful of the need to provide material of all kinds, on all sides of an issue, to our users.
