GIVE!
It is a sacred moment
When one comes to realize
That we are all
A product of the past
An extension into the future...
Then, one must close one's eyes,
And ears and mouth
To listen to the voice of the heart...
To deeply reach within
For the love and harmony
That are in us all
That are us....
And to let this heart beat
To the rhythm of nature
That nourishes us
Nurtures and replenishes us...
For the true beauty
Lives in the eyes of the child
Infinite and mysterious being
Who prolongues our lives and pasts...
And the true love
In each second, each minute,
Each hour, each day, each week
Each spring and each summer
Each eternity given
For all will be given

The Need
|
Today's Haiti, once a thriving producer of much of the world's coffee and sugar, has seen its economy, its society, institutions and its democracy destroyed by a succession of dictators.
Haiti's eight million people have won back their democratic government, but there is no longer any functioning infrastructure not for industry or farming, not for health or education.

The infant mortality rate is 100 per thousand, more than 10 times the rate in the United States. Unemployment exceeds 70%; families struggle every day to find food; they live in tattered cardboard houses; they suffer from severe malnutrition and resulting diseases; health services are overwhelmingly lacking, and years of neglect of the schools has resulted in illiteracy rates exceeding 60%. Even safe drinking water is available to only 13% of the population.
