alypse was born on a distant
land where many elves lived together guided by her aunt, the wise Kelys.
Their lives were simple and they never produced any more than what they
needed, and most elves respected Kelys for her wisdom. However, there
was one elf who was not pleased with her and his name was Liotan. He
had been studying the arts of magic like most elves did, but he couldn´t
understand why some of the spells were kept secret for most elves, except
the elders. He was filled with the desire to learn them, but he needed
special permission from Kelys herself. Kelys knew he was not ready to
control the power that was hidden and refused to grant him access to
it. Liotan left showing respect but was burning inside from the urge
for power.
One day Kalypse was playing in the great gardens that surrounded their
village and she saw in her eyes, what seemed to be beautiful and intense
lights above the village, which were not unusual because at some special
occasions the most experienced mages used to color the sky and fill
the streets with flowers. Kalypse was too young to understand that there
was no reason for such magic to be cast. It was in fact Liotan fighting
Kalypse´s parents in order to have them captive and force Kelys
to allow him entrance to the secret library. Kalypse´s mother
was killed during the attempt and her father lost his strengh as he
saw his wife losing the shine she had in her eyes. Liotan was able to
capture Kalypse´s father and left a message for Kelys ordering
her to give him permission or he would kill her brother.
Kelys never had such a difficult decision to make... to decide between
her brother´s life or the safety of all living creatures of the
land. Liotan was a very talented mage and also young. Only two other
elves knew how to enter the library and they were both too old to fight
against Liotan. Kelys hesitantly, but seeing no other choice, decided
to leave and let some friends of hers and great warriors to fight Liotan
and try to free her brother. She couldn´t stay on the land in
case they failed for she would die before allowing him to know those
secrets, and she felt like she was now the only one to take care of
little Kalypse. She took Kalypse and both other elders with her and
they left the land.
Years have passed and Kalypse learned the things she knows from her
aunt and the elders, but soon they could not keep her with them. She
wanted to know other cultures and creatures from different lands and
they were too old to continue the journey. They blessed her decision
to continue now that she was not a child anymore and decided to go back
hoping to have news of her father.
Kalypse could not go back because the memories of her mother being dead
were too hard to bare and that place would only hurt her more. She knew
that if her father was still alive he would search for her guided by
the elders' directions.
She finally stopped at this strange island with many different creatures
and with interesting history. She wanted to learn more about their lives
and make many friends, for her entire life she felt somewhat lonely.
As she met a few people in town with good hearts she thought to herself:
"This might be the home I was looking for".
