Irish £1 Note and Proof Coin Set
On January 1 2002, Ireland will formally issue its own Euro coins and banknotes, as part of the single European currency. In the lead up to this historic date, the Central Bank of Ireland is issuing a limited number of collector packs, as a farewell to the Irish currency. Each pack will contain a pristine £1 banknote dated 1989, the last year these notes were issued, and a proof quality cupro-nickel £1 coin dated 1990, which was the first year this coin was issued. The banknote depicts the legendary Queen Medb (pronounced Maeve) and an Irish red deer graces the reverse of the £1 coin.
In honor of the great artistic tradition of Irish coins and banknotes, these examples of Ireland’s currency are presented in a magnificent collector’s pack illustrated by internationally acclaimed artist Jim Fitzpatrick.
The currency set is free-standing enabling this fine example of traditional Celtic art to be displayed in the home, office or boardroom.
Only 25,000 of these beautiful sets will ever be issued to collectors around the world.
I have limited number of these for sale $45.00.
