Edonkey Guide #1 : How to tell if a file is fake before you download it!

This guide is not exactly scientific and will not guarantee 100% accuracy but it will, in general, help you to avoid fake files! One of the biggest problems plaguing the edonkey network is renamed files! People will take a file that they already have and rename it to a popular movie that has recently come out in the theaters but isn't yet on the edonkey network. One location where the names of fake files are located is at the unofficial edonkey request forum. Another good way to find out if a file is fake is to send a message to the people who have the whole movie and ask them if it is real! To do this, click on the plus sign next to the file name and find a person whose bar is all black. Then, add them to your friends list by right clicking their name and selecting 'add to friends'. Then click on the friends tab, find their name, and send them a message! For newer files (i.e. movies that have come out in theaters recently) go to www.isonews.com and do a search in the dupe check are for the name of the movie and see whether or not the movie has been released onto the internet yet. If it isn't listed on isonews, then I'll guarantee that the movie is not on the edonkey network yet. Common sense is also a good weapon against fake files. If a movie has just recently come out, then any file that is labled a DVDrip is definitely a fake as the dvd wont come out for a few months. They will most likely be either two or more .mpg files which can be burned to a VCD and watched on a standalone DVD player or it will be one or two smaller .avi files that have been converted from the .mpg files.
