Phase 1 - Charles Lane Photos

Saturday, August 21 - 10:00 A.M.
Dedication of the homes of the
Green, Hile and Wintermyers Families.
Under threatening skies, the three homes at 80, 82 and 88 Charles Lane were dedicated, volunteers were recognized, keys to the homes were turned over to their new owners, the open house tours began, and showers of blessing immediately burst forth from the heavens!

The people assemble under threatening skies.

The dedication service was held in
the Charles Lane cul-de-sac.

"House of the Carpenter" is
being read by family members.

A new home owner expresses her
thanks to the many volunteers.

Her daughter does also.

A second family expresses their thanks too.

And the third family also.

The open house tour began just as the rains started.
In moments, it was a cloudburst!

Tuesday, August 17. Coming down the homestretch! Care-A-Vaneers and AmeriCorps volunteers scurry along, hanging doors and painting walls and floor moldings in preparation for Saturday morning's dedication and open house.

many interior doors inside.

Another Care-A-Vaneer measures

The continual scraping and sweeping up is a
very important part of building a Habitat house.

many strips of floor molding.

Wall painting is almost complete.

August 2. Care-A-Vaneers, volunteers who come from across
the USA with their travel trailers and who will be here
for two weeks, made porch fencing and installed insulation
today at the 80 and 82 Charles Lane houses.

Building porch fencing.

Moving lumber.

Installing insulation.

Installing stud bracing.

80 and 82 Charles Lane are progressing nicely.

August 2. The Church of Genesis, Newcastle, PA volunteers
install siding while plumbers begin their installations.

(BLITZ WEEK!!)

July 20. The street is being paved. The three homes await the Build-A-Thon next week.

July 9. Street curbings are completed. The concrete floors
are being poured and finished on the two bi-level homes.

The curbing installation is complete. The rancher is at left.
The two bi-level homes are on the right, partially hidden by the ground piles.

July 6. Street curbings are being installed. Charles Lane is starting
to take shape. And the foundations await the first floor deck construction.

June 24. The York-Adams Co. Masonry Association workers
construct foundation walls at 80 and 82 Charles Lane.

And more action on June 9 as the Swingin' Seniors roll in to form footers on a 90+ degree day!

Pit for the first bi-level home on the left side of the cul-de-sac. The Swingin' Seniors are calling it a day after completing the footer forms on the adjacent house's basement excavation.
