What is a Doula?
A Doula.
..
...recognizes birth as a key life experience, understands the physiology of birth and the emotional needs of a woman in labor...

...assists the woman and her partner in preparing for and carrying out her plans for birth...

...stays by the side of the laboring woman throughout the labor with no change in shift...

...provides emotional support, practical comfort measures, an objective viewpoint and information to aid decision making...

...facilitates communication between the laboring woman, her partner and clinical care providers...

...compliments the care provided by the woman's partner and birth attendants.
Who am I?
I am a happily married mother of 4 amazing children. I first got interested in becoming a doula after the birth of my third child Cailey, I had experienced the whole "hospital" "epidural" birth with my first child Chloe, and then with my second I thought I would try it natural and the experience was much easier. With the 3rd and 4 th I decided to have a home birth and I wish I would have done that with all. So I have experienced different labors and births and that is when I decided to help women have a more
SATISFYING and COMPLETE birth experience. I am now practicing as a birth and postpartum doula, I am also studying nursing at St. Clair College. In the future I plan to become a midwife but for the time being I will do my best to support, guide and honour each woman as she journey's through pregnancy, childbirth and motherhood.
