Matsushima Nanako grew up in a very poor family and is thus determined to marry a rich
man so that she will never have to go through poverty ever again, and is named the
"gokon queen" in her quest to find her man. Tsutsumi Shinichi is a
brilliant academic (Fields prize winner - Nobel Prize equivalent in Mathematics) who gave
up his studies to take over his deceased father's fish-shop. They meet through a
doctor's "gokon" (group date) and she falls in love with him under the mistaken
assumption that he is a very rich man...

Nakahara Osuke (35) | Nakahara Osuke – Tsutsumi Shinichi Osuke had a brilliant career in mathematics until he chooses to leave Boston and return to Tokyo to take over his father's struggling fish shop business after his father's death. He is a kind and unpretentious person who is constantly shortchanged by his customers. He falls in love with Sakurako, who looks exactly like his ex-girlfriend. |

Shiota Wakabe (23) | Shiota Wakabe
– Yada Akiko A flight attendant, Wakabe is Sakurako's kohei, and joins her on the gokons. She is a sweet and unambitious girl who falls in love with Osuke after meeting him at the same gokon as Sakurako. She does not mind that Osuke is poor and often goes to help out at his shop. |

Higashijujou Tsukasa (30) | Higashijujou
Tsukasa – Azuma Mikihisa Sakurako's boyfriend, a very rich doctor with his own hospital. He is very much enamoured by Sakurako and will do anything for her. He also trusts her implicitly. Despite loving her, he doesn't really understand her at all. |

Kasuya Shinichirou (35) | Kasuya
Shinichirou – Kakei Toshio Good friend of Osuke. An easily excitable and very energetic character. He falls in love with Okuyama Nami after meeting her at the "doctor's gokon" arranged by his friend, Sakuma. |

Okuyama Nami (24) | Okuyama Nami
– Sudou Risa Flight attendant and Sakurako's kohei who also joins her at the gokons. She is in love with Hanabusa Reiji, but often when he's occupied, she'll date other men (including Kasuya) in her free time. |
| Tamehisa Sakuma (39) | Tamehisa
Sakuma – Nishimura Masahiko Good friend of Osuke, and tries to look out for him. Although he goes to gokons and flirts with other girls, he actually does love his wife, Mariko, whom he met in university. |

Reiji - Oshio Manabu A doctor working at the same hospital as Sakuma, and is a playboy who is very popular with women.
