Transcendental Meditation - Introduction

Want to cure your RSI through transcendental meditation? Then read on!

Transcendental Meditation is often associated with religious beliefs stemming from eastern religions such as Buddhism and Hinduism which must be performed in only one "correct" way in order to reach some sort of spiritual realization. While this may well be true, it is not the focus of this page. This site focuses on the development of an effective meditation technique. Guidelines are also given on how to harness this technique to lessen or in my case eliminate completely the pain associated with repetitive strain injury(RSI). If you do not know what RSI is please click here for an explanation.

Even if you do not have RSI, regularly practicing the meditation technique outlined on this site will give you all the benefits commonly associated with meditation. I have now been practicing this technique for several years, some of the benefits that I have gained as a direct result of meditation are:

An even temperament - Friends and relatives are always saying how uncommon it is for me to get angry or overly upset when things don't go my way.
Reduced sickness - Since I began the regular practice, I very rarely get sick. In the event that I do catch a cold or a flu, it is extremely mild and does not stop me from performing my usual duties in any way.
Lower stress - I have noticed that I am much better able to handle stressful situations at work. Despite being under pressure I am able to think the situation through and work towards the objective without panicking.

I make no guarantees as to whether this technique will work for you. There is no scientific proof that this technique works and all I can say is that it worked for me. This page is here purely to try to help other people through meditation as I have been helped. You should have an open mind about everything written here. If you've got debilitating RSI then theres no harm in trying this stuff!

I developed RSI by playing that fantastic game called Quake, the constant bashing on the keys led to my wrists (my left hand in particular) to become quite painful even after the briefest stretch on the computer. This was quite worrying as I was(and still am) studying software engineering which will no doubt require lots of typing during my career. While I still cant play Quake without having the symptoms come back, I can type at a computer for reasonable periods without too many problems. You should of course always follow good form when typing on a computer, you can find information on good computer posture and form here.

The Carpel Tunnel, which can reduce in size leading to carpel tunnel syndrome.

My RSI wasnt as severe as some of the descriptions that I have read on the web and you should always exhaust all traditional medical approaches before trying alternative therapies like the one outlined on this page.
