CEIPI - LONDON Tutorial Group

Welcome to the unofficial website of the London tutorial group of the CEIPI basic training. This website is produced and maintained by the tutors of the London Group, and has no other connection with CEIPI or the Université Robert Schuman.

CEIPI is an international (and more particularly, pan-European) Institute, located within the Université Robert-Schuman, in beautiful Strasbourg.

The International Section of CEIPI runs, amongst other things, two sets of courses for trainee European patent attorneys:-

1. The Examination Seminar (this year, the course for paper D is on 17-21 January and the course for papers A, B, C is on 21-25 February 2000);
2. The Basic Training Course. The basic training course is a two year series of tutorials, covering the EPC and other European and International patent law in detail. Timetables for the Substantive Law year and the Procedural Law year of the London Group are available here.

The object of the Basic Training Course is to provide a common level of education in European patent law and practice across the whole of Europe, and CEIPI Basic Training Course tutorial groups exist in many major cities of Europe. In the UK, tutorial groups run in London, Manchester and Bristol. Here is a link to the Basic Training announcement in the OJ EPO.

The tutors from all countries meet annually in Strasbourg, to exchange experiences and harmonise views, and we are lucky enough to receive a great deal of active support and assistance from the European Patent Office and from WIPO, both at an organisation level and through the efforts of individuals.
