| I've called and taught dance to a wide range of audiences in the St. Louis area and beyond since 1991. It amazes me that I've been calling for sixteen years! I love to work with old-time string-band music but regularly work with Irish, New England, and even brass bands. I often call for family dances--dances that are easy for beginners, children, and folks who simply don't dance that often. My programs vary, but tend to include square dances, circle mixers, couples dances, whole set dances like the Virginia Reel, and contra dances. I call regularly in St. Louis, but I have also headlined at dance weekends and folk fesitvals, called at local dances, and been the dance mistress for civil war reenactments across the Midwest and South. I'll travel anywhere! For me, the journey is a perk of the job. Since I work with beginners so often, I emphasize clear teaching and selecting dances appropriate to a group's skill level. Whenever I work at Civil War reenactments, it's really important to me to document the authenticity of my dance program, while still keeping the dances simple and fun. References available!
