Dipasis Bhadra: Economist and Quantitative Analyst
I am an economist with a background in quantitative analyses and more than 17 years of post-Ph.D. experience. Using economics analytical framework combined with mathematical modeling, multivariate statistical tools, and standard software (mathematical, statistical, and spreadsheet) to analyze and address issues and solve business, financial, and economic problems are the highlights of my skills. My present area of specialization is transportation, with special emphasis on civil aviation. My domain expertise includes investment analysis, new business strategies in numerous areas of air transportation, air transportation management master plan, pricing and fees setting using skills drawn from a rich set of regression techniques, qualitative choice modeling, time series analysis and forecasting, and program monitoring and evaluation. I also have substantial experience in mathematical modeling and simulation.

As a quantitative analyst in the business fields, I have conducted extensive data modeling, analysis and reporting using SAS, SPSS, STAMP, EViews, GAMS, and MATHEMATICA; Excel, Crystal Ball, Lotus 1-2-3, Quattro-Pro, and ACCESS; and Powerpoint, Word, Word-Perfect, and basic HTML editor in Windows NT, PCs and Macintosh, and VAX-VMS environment. I also have a demonstrated ability to learn new skills and software quickly. 

I have siginificant and diverse experience in all aspects of program management including preparation, monitoring and management of budget. In addition to successfully implementing numerous projects, and supervising technical experts, I have authored various research reports and papers, books and training manual. To my credit, I have 2 books, 1 training manual on strategic business planning (complete with financial software and presentation CD-ROM), more than 30 professional papers (over half of which has been published in peer-reviewed journals), over 25 conference and seminar presentations, 25 reports completed for sponsored projects, 11 grant proposals, and 30 op-ed advocacy articles in newspapers.

I have lived and worked in Bangladesh for 4 years, India for 2 years, and the US (citizen) for over 17 years. I have worked for The World Bank, Asian Development Bank, and CARE, as consultant. I have taught economics at The University of Connecticut, Unversity of Baltimore, American University in the US and North South University in Bangladesh. Furthermore, I have worked for non-profit research and policy advocacy organizations, and government institution. I joined the MITRE Corporation in 2001 as a Lead Economist. After working for almost 8 years as a Principal Economist and Business Analyst in the areas of air transportation at The MITRE Corporation, now I work as a Senior Quantitative Economist at the US Department of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration. In addition, I teach Principles of Macro and Microeconomics as an Adjunct Professor at the Northern Virginia Community College . I have a Ph. D. in economics (1991) from the University of Connecticut, Storrs.

Together with my wife Laura who is an Assistant Professor at the Northern Virginia Community College-Manassas, our son Mandip Richard, and our daughter Sara Anne Purnima, I live and work in Virginia.
