DONT 028 Hexbreaker DXO 3"CDR
I met Rey Diego from Hexbreaker in Santa Cruz whilst on tour with Grey Daturas.
He introduced himself to me at the merchandise table during the course of
the party fuelled gig and one of his first questions to me was “have you
heard of a band from Melbourne called Christbait?”. My jaw dropped and I lead
him straight to our tour mobile where I turned on the CD player to, exactly
where the CD had stopped playing when we arrived in Santa Cruz, the middle
of ‘Swing’ from Christbait’s Yeast EP. I began gushing as to how huge a fan
I was of Christbait and quickly interrogated Rey as to why on earth he’d
heard of such an obscure Melbourne metal band (outside of Melbourne). “Oh my
band toured Australia back in the 90’s. We played with them and hung out
back in Melbourne” he explained. “What’s your fucking band?” I demanded.
“Well I used to do all the noise and samples in Fear Factory” Rey responded.
It turns out that Robbie MacManus (Grey Daturas) and I were at that
Melbourne Fear Factory gig back in the early 90’s while we were still
teenagers, I even have a recording of the show. Much chit chat, laughter and
further party machen ensued. Months down the line, Rey reminded me that he
currently had a project in the works with his pal Chris Sciacca called
Hexbreaker. The sounds I was made privy were truly beautiful. And finally a
year down the line we have DXO. Hexbreaker produce warm, bottom-of-a-well
drones textured with shimmering organs, melodic synth tones, strangulated
guitars, electronic striations, and static noise. Their sound teeters on a
fragile wire, threatening to plunge either into out n’ out ambience or full
throttle industrialism. Certainly for fans of modern day electronic drones
and a welcome return to the music scene from one of music histories
overlooked and forgotten electronic merchants.

DONT 027 1/3 Octave Band Weapons of Mass Dystopia 3"CDR
1/3 Octave Band are one of the leading figures from the current crop of
Wellington New Zealand's drone/noise scene. Highly prolific yet consistently
wondrous, Bill Wood and Jules Desmond have this time brandished a
frighteningly doom riddled drone epic, in two parts, riddled with electronic
tones produced from guitars, microphones, amplified glass and metal. A
spooky-as-shit, little release that ought to serve well as a replacement
soundtrack to any horrific scene from a David Lynch film.

DONT 026 Eamon Sprod & Matthew O'shannessy The Fifth Floor 3"CDR
Two of Melbournes quietly acheiveing experimental artists Eamon Sprod
(aka Tarab) and Matthew O'shannessy go head to head banging and scraping all
kinds of junk on the fifth floor of an ababdoned office building. A variety
of naturally reverberating klunks, thuds, chimes and squawks are covered
while the hum of the outside world drones in sympathy with the found echo
chamber that is the fifth floor.

DONT 025 It's Is Three Speed Fan CASSETTE
My 1st solo release on my own label being a recording of my three speed
electric fan made in early January 2008. Early January of 2008 in
Melbourne was... FUCKEN HOT! Temeratures soared up to 43 degrees Celcius
on occasion and aside from trying to sleep and eat, sitting in front of
the droning three speed fan became my only activity in those times.
Through hypnosis (by the fan) I decided it would be interesting to record
the sound of the fan at all three speeds, at the same time (ie over dub
each speed on top of each other) and see what happened. As you may well
guess, the result is droney. The cassette also includes different speed
variations on the recording from super sped up (extatic high-speed
whiring) to super slowed down (sludgy low-end throbbings). 90 minutes!
Ltd to 20 copies only.

DONT 024 White Hills No Kind Ending 3"CDR
When I first met Dave W. of White Hills he was wearing a cluster 71 shirt and
I thought to my self… ‘this guy is gonna be interesting’. I soon learnt
the celestial truth behind who he was and, naturally, I needed to get him to
contribute a little something to the label. On this White Hills disc we
find Dave W. soaring solo, doing away with the ROCK and leaving the pure
cosmic SPACE!!! A radiation shower’s worth of syth and spaced out guitar
that tips its hat so proudly in the direction of all things ambient and Kraut.

DONT 023 xNoBBQx BBQ Nite CDR
Holy shit! These guys are gonna be bigger than Barnsy…
I’m super proud to present for y’all this here new spazz-nut from xNoBBQx.
‘BBQ Nite’ is an ultra mongrel-ed out slab of primitiveness courtesy of
Sydneysider, and drum violator, Nick Dan (Antipan, Sun Of The Seventh Sister, etc.)
and Blue Mountaineer, and guitar anti-technician, Matt Earl (Stasis Duo,
Antipan, Sun Of The Seventh Sister, muura, Mosseisly, Breakdance The Dawn, etc.),
featuring a fleeting appearance from Stasis Duo’s Adam Sussman to boot.
‘BBQ Nite’ ought to leave you feeling as vague and blank as a freshly
lobotomised outpatient. xNoBBQx also have releases on Matt’s own
(and fucking brilliant) Breakdance the Dawn, Antony Milton’s The Seedy R,
and Siltbreeze. Lobotomies now! Lobotomies for everyone!

DONT 022 Impromptulons Swamp Hobo 3"CDR
Extreme retardations from this Brisbane based collective who base their
improvisations on the 'everybody solos, nobody solos' principle.
Impromptulons create a racket similar to that of the Scratch Orchestra
or the Familiar Ugly and features members of Perfect Lovers, Fabre Castel,
No Guru, Volvox, The White Petunias and about 30 other bands you’re unlikely
to have heard of outside of Brisbane… my favourite modern day Brisbane band
by a long shot!

DONT 021 Default Jamerson I Think I'm Starting To Let Go 3"CDR
One of the grandest electronic downers I've had the privilege of absorbing lately.
Melbourne's Default Jamerson has been creating heavy electronic
anti-bliss for fucking ages and I'm stoked to high hell to release this
latest offering. Whip out that musty old bean bag, tune in the
static on your TV, bang 'I Think I'm Starting To Let Go' on yr headphones
and fade into the nothing!

DONT 020 Grey Daturas Live in Austin CDR
A live recording of the last grey daturas show for 2006 after a mighty
tour of the USA. A fascinating recording documenting the ever evolving
Grey Daturas live sound! Recorded by Bobby of Rubble at Austin's legendary EMO's.
T'was a classic night which aslo featured When Dinosaurs Rulled The Earth
and Rusted Shut.

DONT 019 Expo '70 Illusive Landscaping 3"CDR
Straight outa Kansas City. Possible the best synth-drone monster this

Blissed out syth excusions from Sydney two-peice moonmilk.
Adorable space-drones from a couple o' love birds.

DONT 017 Bonecloud 3"CDR
Irelands dark masters of icy druid-drone. Mysterious Loops and ghostly,
wind-tunnel tones. absolutely kick arse!

DONT 016 AM Poerua Acid 3"CDR
The great man behind Psudoarcana and countless other projects
(the nether dawn, mrtyu, black boned angel, with throats as fine as needles etc)
whips up a warbled drone gem. finger picked guitar, howls and bamboo flute
hosed in feedback n droned out to the tits! like listening back to a terry
riley cassette that'd been left on the dashboard during a summer scorcher.

DONT 015 Nigel Wright Alleluya 3"CDR
Auckland New Zealand's Nigel Wright creates processed minimal guitar-scapes
which evolve at an meditative pace. A stoned crawl towards a digital sunset.

LAST COPIES

DONT 014 EOH Wormy 3"CDR
After much inquiry, a piece of the April 2006 EOH recordings finally
sees the light of day. EOH is the famed drinking trio of Simon Taylor,
Aaron Coyes, and moi (Robert Mayson). Aside from recording, the three of
us spent many an evening hanging around my kitchen, listening to records,
eating Japanese curries, getting boozy on stones… the usual shit. We even
managed to tour Sydney before Aaron was forced to return to his home in
California. This 20 minute, mind melding, ogre was culled specifically for
3"CDR from over two hours of recordings. Organ, oscillators, circuit-bent
instruments, contact microphones, ride cymbals, bass, guitar, piano, floor
tom, tape machines, transistor radio..., all recorded in a cavernous hall
in the heart of Melbourne. This is a snippet of one of my favorite
recording sessions that I've had the privilege working on.
EOH is by no means over and there's talk of a reunion of sorts by the
end of the year with shows in both the USA and Australia. Here's hoping!
Oh, the recording was named after my son Max's imaginary friend.

DONT 013 Birchville Cat Motel Small Christian Victories 3"CDR
Another sick-arsed release by Lower Hutt, New Zealand’s one and only
Birchville Cat Motel. Recorded live in the cramped confines of the glorious
fire escape at Happy in Wellington (I've been there and it's cool as fuck).
Shrill as sin, battery-powered, feedback cranked through distressed
walkman speakers. Brutal shit!
