| Special thanks to Dianne Zeifman who recognized the need and created the original Poodle Adoption and Poodle Rescue links web pages. She maintained both for several years. Because of Dianne's efforts, dozens, more likely hundreds, of Poodles with otherwise uncertain futures found happy homes. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

| "Another senior Poodle arrived in rescue today, after being taken to the Vet to be euthanized by the owner's family when the owner passed away. The Vet refused to do it as he felt she is a healthy dog with many more good years ahead. The problem is, nobody wants an old dog. I will not have a single person interested in her; everyone wants a puppy or young dog This is how a lot of these older Poodles end up in rescue, when elderly people want a puppy or young dog and do not take into consideration that these little dogs sometimes live to be 20 years old and will most likely outlive most of them and then end up shuffled around, stuck in rescue (or worse), with not much hope for another home or somewhere warm and comfortable to live out their golden years. I SO wish people would take more responsibility when acquiring a pet and think about the end result. Rescuers face this problem over and over yet we continue to get calls from seniors who insist that they want a young dog because they do not want to deal with the health problems an older dog might have. We all get "old" and we all need someone to care for us until the end. So I am begging people to STOP and think hard where these poor little dogs end up, when they are no longer cute puppies and you are no longer there to care for them." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are." Cheryl Zuccaro | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
