I offer this space for advertisements of DeTomaso automobiles for sale. There is no charge to place an advertisement. I usually don't know the seller, or the buyer, and I have not personally inspected any of these cars, unless otherwise stated, but in any event I do not warrent any car to be suitable for any use. I leave it up to the seller to provide an accurate description of the car, and I leave it up to the buyer to review and inspect the car prior to purchase.
Sellers: To receive advertising pages, provide numerous photos (in jpg format) of all the details of the car. This should include photos of each corner, front, rear, sides, interior, front trunk, engine bay, and a photo of any other significant detail, including any damage. Images should be 640X400, or greater (images of 2+ megs in size each are excessive at this time). The description should be "substantial". I store cars by VIN, include at least the last 4 digits of the Vehicle Identification Number. Click here for VIN info, and here for some images of Identification Plates, including the VIN. Many of the ads I have placed so far have less detail than they should. Sellers then spend lots of time telling each interested party the same additional details. Save yourself time and effort, write it once. I'll edit as necessary, and you can then reply to any inquiries attaching the same description to everyone. Review the sold cars, and create something BETTER than anything you see. BE ACCURATE! BE HONEST! Don't waste effort with "puffery" or mis-leading details. This really helps SELL!
Buyers: It is your responsibility to insure the car is acceptable, so do your homework. These are generally hand-built cars, made in small numbers, and with a large variety of features, models and variations. Try this site for buyer ideas. Review the "Buyers Check List". As with any 30+ year old exotic, rust is a concern. I suggest you review details of the Pantera models here. I also suggest any buyer getting the car inspected. While any good shop local to the car may be acceptable, there are members of the national club POCA that will inspect a car for you, if you ask nicely! Take advantage of the various DeTomaso clubs, join (before you buy), learn, and get the best experience from your endevor.
Note: It is your responsibility to notify me when the car is sold!
There is a Registry for DeTomaso automobiles. It was last printed around 1991, so it is a bit out-of-date, and it has less than 1/2 the cars made, but it is still worth a look. The Registry is out-of-print, and a new edition ia not soon to publish, also it is not "on-line", although several attempts are going right now. Since it is not available I can look up cars by VIN in my copy, if requested, include your e-mail and phone number.
