An announcement:
It gives me great pleasure to announce that Maine will be hosting
the 2005 United States Fencing Coaches Association National
Conference, on June 3-5th, at the Portland Fencing Center in Westbrook, ME.
Nancy Reynolds, PFC Head Coach, has graciously offered to host the
conference. I
hope all fencers and coaches in Maine will recognize that this is a significant
event for our state and an opportunity for the growth of our sport. I invite
fencing coaches to take advantage of the educational opportunity by attending
the conference. You will find information about the the conference at this
website.
I would like to thank the USFCA organization and its President, Master
Arnold Mercado, on behalf of Maine and the Northeast region for offering us this
great opportunity. Finally,
I would like to dedicate this year's conference to the memory of the late Maitre
d'Armes Robert F. Scranton. In the Fall 1999 issue of the Swordmaster, I wrote a
proposal to the membership suggesting the creation of an annual professional
coaches conference. Maitre Scranton was at that time USFCA president and he
personally contacted me to encourage the idea. He was greatly supportive and
instrumental in the creation of the annual USFCA Conference. The USFCA National
Coaches Conference has since been held annually to date; a legacy of Maitre
Scranton and other coaches has found value in hosting this essential annual event.
See you at the conference.
Best Regards. John William Krauss, Moniteur
