Another challenge for Green Hornet fans, to learn more about their favorite rolling arsenal, Black Beauty. This time we must face the challenge without the Green Hornet, or his aide, Kato. Due to the success of the earlier 'Amazing Black Beauty', and in response to the support of some very dedicated fans, we team up with the owners of Black Beauty #1 and #2 for an inside look at these two wonders of crimefighting history. Never before have fans had the opportunity to see Black Beauty this way, up close and revealed by the people who know them best. Also contributing to this special 'for the fans' feature is Dean Jeffries, builder of the two Green Hornet cars used on the TV show. Disclaimer: This is NOT a complete Black Beauty history. This is one fans' experiences shared with fellow fans...no other intention is expressed or implied. These are the real cars; www.theblackbeauty.com is their real home , and this is my real story. Hornet gun...check. Hornet sting....check. Let's roll.
Karl Kirchner's Black Beauty #2 has 11,174 original miles, and begins restoration in 2002.
Louis Ringe's Black Beauty #1 shows only 14,600 original miles on the odometer.
On most nights, the story of the two Chrysler Crown Imperials the world has come to call 'Black Beauty' is one known to most fans. This story is quite different. Tonight's ride in Black Beauty is not on the moonlit back streets of the city in the dark of night. This time, we see them in a new type of light. A light of new understanding, in present day, with a slightly infra-green tint, if you look at it just the right way.
Through 36 years of mixed treatment at the hands of several owners, these machines have come through it all with life stories that are similar to those of great human achievers. What began as two vehicles used in the fight against evil has become more than that in the eyes of some. They have found a place in the heart of many people who themselves may have known a struggle or two. So the lives of two machines find life even today in the human heart, and the two machines enjoy a uniquely humanlike life of their own.
